When I saw your post, i did a mental inventory. A couple of serious medical problems require me to carry medicines, hypdermic needles, and monitoring devices. I must have my checkbook and credit cards, as well as my driver's license and car insurance papers, and the car registration. The cellphone goes with me whenever I leave the house, as ell as a variety of pens and pencils. My appointment book is an absolute must, of course, or I'll never be in the right place at the right time. I carry reminders such as coupons and sale announcements. A pair of glasses has to be there in case a contact gets lost. I need the bottle of whatever polish is presently on my nails, in case of touchups being necessary. I love my makeup case that says on the front, "Queen of Everything," and I'm sad that it's starting to get shabby and it will need to be replaced, because I've never seen another like it. Naturally, i's full of everything I could possibly ever need for makeup or polish retouches. Whateverbook I'm currently reading is in the bag if there's any room at all for it. A notpad is vital, of course! I'm seeing more clearly than ever why my bag weighs a ton!
I need pens in several different colors, so things can be organized, and I need coins for the parking meters.
Wow! I've missed thins like my wallet and othe important things, and that's a whole lot of stuff!
How do women who carry tiny bags or non at all manage?

I usually have a pen, a small notepad, my purse with cash and a debit card and some bills, a small bottle of water and small packet of biscuits in case I get hungry and some tissues. I'll also have a set of my house keys and a small list of emergency phone numbers in the bag.

The necessities are cell phone, wallet with ID, credit cards and cash (well, maybe cash...), keys, a few tissues, a small folding knife and lip balm. If I'm going "out" I'll usually slide a powder compact or lipstick in there, too. And in the winter I have a small bottle of hand cream because of the dry air.
I will say, if I'm just going to the grocery store or a friends house, I'll often ditch the bag altogether and just put my wallet and cell phone in my pockets.

I call mine the garbage bag! Literally! I start off with a clean purse often, and it ends up like a dump after awhile. I have my wallet with all my necessary cards/license in it and my money. Then I have my checkbooks, and ATM card in one. I keep a bottle of Tylenol/antiacid and other pills in there. I have my cellphone, a bottle of hand sanitizer, and a small tube of lotion and a pack of tissues. In the zipper, I have other small items, plus lipstick, chapstick, breath mints, etc. In the outside pocket I have keys galore - a key for everything, including all my extra car keys! I sometimes think what would I do if I left my key in the ignition and then left my purse in the car!
Then, the garbage begins! Every time I go to a store that electonically takes my check and then gives it an the receipt back to me, it goes in my purse. After you do this a few times, you can consider it the garabage can! And I only clean it out when I see it rising to the top!
