Tomorrow, my husband and I will celebrate our anniversary. It has been forty four years tomorrow since we said our vows. We went into our marriage believing that we would stay together forever. We have kept this commitment and intend to keep it until 'death do us part'.
We were married by a judge at the courthouse. But he gave us some valuable words before we were married. He said marriage was easy gotten into but harder to get out of. We told him that we intended never having to try to get out of the marriage. We wanted to be 'life partners'. And,life has been good for us with two children and five grandchildren with one on the way. For all these wonderful years, I thank God.

That's such a long time...may I ask a question?...I hope you don't think I'm rude or feel offended. I truly am curious..are you bored with your relationship or your life or your partner? How do you keep things alive and fresh and interesting? I reckon someone who's been married that long must have some right answers..

Nothing rude about your question. Inquiring minds want to know.
I have never been bored. I guess we have always respected each other and given each other space and freedom. We've trusted each other from day one. I'd never do anything to cause him to want to leave and vice versa. Other than keeping your mind on your life-long partner and not looking at the other side (the grass is NOT greener on the other side), I don't really have a pat answer, MsTickle.

It still amazes me that people will get married thinking they can just leave if the going gets rough or they don't really relate to this person. Why not get married because the person you are with is your best friend, you are in love, and you plan to live together for the rest of your life. Marriage isn't a bed of roses, but it's not hard to make it work, either. I haven't been a good grower of roses, but I think my husband and I have figured out what it takes to make a great marriage.

Congratulations. Your marriage is truly an inspiration in this age of divorce.
I too was married at a courthouse. I don't remember the words the judge gave us, lol, but at this point I don't expect us to ever part. We've only been married 5 years, but are still as happy as we were on day 1.
