is it normal if you eat too fast?....

..i've been really eating fast even before i was a kid..and some of my friends notice that and they advice me to slow down a bit, because i might get choke, and the food might not be chewed well causing it to digest very slow?...however i'm already used to that, i eat just about 5 to 15 mins..on average...do you think that's not normal?...

I don't think it will do anything but give you gas if you eat to fast. As long as you chew and swallow then it should be fine. It's not strange.

Hi Rave700, maybe you're used to eating fast, so your digestion system works fast.
I'd like to take my time enjoying my food, but then when our lunch time is like only an hour or so, so we'd have to rush. And sometimes, we have, like 15 mins. to finish our food. When this happen, I'd usually get indigestion.

well i think that is too fast. personally i'd love to go over my meal slowly. it's my belief that we are all working so hard just for the three meals a day. if we were to rush through it, then what's the point of working so hard? also, eating quickly means you don't chew your food. it's a good habit to cultivate - chewing your food.
firstly, it gives the enzyme in your saliva time to break down the carbohydrates. this way, it'll lessen the load on your stomach. this will reduce the chance of getting indigestion. also, the chewing motion makes your brain think that the body is full faster. i.e. if you don't chew, you need two cheese burgers to fill full. but if you chew, you'd need maybe one and a half cheese burgers. cheers ;p

I have always been a fast eater,and my parents and friends always say I swallow my food whole,and they constantly ask me if I actually tasted it,I think eating fast is not unhealthy if you like eating fast, and the only down side is you might choke,but if you are careful,then it is very unlikely that you would choke on your food.

Well; I prefer to eat Food slowly and steadily . Fast eating does not help too much . Eating slow helps in better digestion .

Yes I think it's normal but don't eat too fast that you don't allow your food to digest. Take your time and eat well.

To have good digestion your food need to be chewed very throughly. You should take at least 20 minutes to eat a meal because it takes that long for your stomach to let your brain that you are full. Not chewing one's food is one reason that people over eat. When I was a kid we were told to chew each bit 100 times, but I think that that is going over board. choking is a hazard too of eating too fast. So yes it really isn't normal to eat so fast. Not good for your poor stomach ether.
