I understand there are superstitious people out there and superstitions are not prejudiced menaing they spill over to animals. But to me a superstition is a fear of whatever it is attached to. I was just reading about some superstitions attached to dog howling and they are ridiculous. ANd it got me to thinking about the supersitions attached to cats. I knew someone one time who told me they really believed that cats could take your breath away. Imagine this: a grown man on whose car broke down on a country road and only he and his wife was there and a long comes a cat....a domestic cat....and the cat jumps up on his chest knocks him down and starts taking his breath....I swear that is what he said. I laughed my @ss off and I was only 12 when I heard that story. I told him he was crazy, high or drunk. All my life cats have been around me. There is even baby pictures where one of the cats was sleeping righ tnext to me on my "magic" pillow. I know most superstitions are attached to somehting and I know with the cats taking the breath it is an old wives tale because cats like to sleep on people chest and near their heads (not all, but a lot do) and I know they would crawl into cribs and there may have been an instince where one accidently suffocated a baby or a little child. I think it is mean and disturbing when people attached superstitions to animals only because of a rumor they heard or old wives tales.....they ar eloving creatures created by the same entity who created us. ANd I do believe they watch over us as my pets have always watched over me and my family. All of our animals thoruhgout our life have saved us from housefires, intruders, and one cat would sense my mother having a diabetic reaciton and saved her life many times. So how superstitious are you? And does it make you angry when you hear them? Or do you just laugh?

That's exactly what I said to this guy and Lions and mountain lions can never be mistaken for a domesticated cat....unless he was on something pretty heavy...
