Why do people catorgize/judge other people?

i think people build an image for themselves according to what the enjoy. but never really take the time to try to understand things other peope might like. i like to try things more than once in case my tastes have changed since the last time. i have been caught judgin people on the odd occasion but thats generally bad parentin and such like. not for how people are

I hate people who judge people by the outside and not what is on the inside. As long as you are being your own person and who you are who cares what others think. There are some real jerks in this world. My son has long hair and people assume he is a pot head but he is not. people can be so cruel and mean. Good luck and hold your head up high and be who you want to be not who others decided you to be.

cellmusic I dont really know either but they do it all the time and it really bothers me.We seem to sterotype everyone and label all and yet we should not judge at all as we do not know that person at all, so how can we judge and be right? Looking at me with my white hair, a judgemental person would say look at that foolish old woman,shes lazy and just plain old. Now this person has never even met me, does not know one thing about me, all she sees is an overweight elderly woman. I am not lazy, and yes of course I do have white hair, and I am a senior citizen and I am overweight. so what. a lot of people are in the same category and we have worked hard all our lives, we are not lazy, nor senile nor any of the crap that we are labeled with and the same thing applies to young people too. they are judged by their clothes and their age, judge not lest thou be judged
