Eyes not healed completely

Today was my daughter's third eye doctor appointment for her lazy eye. As most of you know she has been wearing a patch everyday for the last six months for at least four hours a day. She has also been wearing glasses for this length of time. The doctor was trying to correct and straighten her left eye out without the use of surgery. Well, the glasses and eye patch did help straighten the eye out quite a bit and really improved on her eye sight. Unfortunately it didn't work completely. He wants her to wear the patch for three more months and then we are going to set things up for surgery. It's the only way to completely correct the eye and get it to be completely straight. I will now be saving my Mylot earnings and all that I can to pay for this surgery as we don't have insurance that can pay for it. I will update everyone again in September when she goes for her fourth appointment.

Hi lovespecialangel,
I hope you will be able to save enough amount by that time...Anyway, you still have 2 months to go and for being active in a day, for sure you will accumulate a certain amount! If I am in the situation, maybe I will ask a little help from my mom too!

Good luck with that. I hope and pray it all works out for you guys. Not having insurance can be a tough thing. I had a tooth pulled without insurance cost 1200 its insane the cost for things like this.

I remember you talking about that. I hope all turned out well. The cost of everything is crazy when you don't have insurance. I wish we did have insurance, but there is nothing we can do about it right now.

Hi lovespecialangel,
My daughter has the same problem, when she was 3, she got the surgery. It was a some type of lazer. She need both eyes. And now we have to do it again. I notice that her left eye goes in. She has an appointment next month, I'm hoping that they will do the surgery on her. The last time it was an in and out proceeder. Good luck with your daughter. My daughter never had to wear a patch. Is that the only doctor she has seen?

I believe it will be an in and out proceeder with my daughter too, but I will know more after her next appointment. She has seen one other specialist a couple of years ago, but all he wanted to do was correct the turning and not the eye sight. He acted as though he could care less that she couldn't see good through that eye. Since she has been to this doctor that she goes to know her eye sight has improved and the turning isn't as bad. The doctor that we are seeing now also said that doing the surgery before correcting her sight to it's max would have been a waste of time because her eye would have just turned in again from the weakness of the vision in that eye. Thank you and good luck with your daughter as well!

Well, certainly I hope that your daughters eyes straighten out with the next three months of patch wearing. I have lived all my life with a lazy eye and didn't listen to the doctors when I was younger. Good for you to see her through all that she has to do.

I hope so too. It would be great for her eye to straighten out and her not need surgery, but the doctor doesn't think that will happen. He is hopeful that three more months will help improve her eye sight more before the surgery though.
