Yeah, Latrivia, take an oatmeal bath to help your sunburn. It's real helpful.

Grr I'm so frustrated right now. Fourth of July weekend I and my family went to the lake. Since my skin was originally as white as chicken skin (I kid you not), I was burned to a crisp. Today my burn started to itch a little, so I went online to look for remedies. Aloe vera works well and all, but it wasn't doing much for the itch. So I find a bunch of suggestions that oatmeal baths in lukewarm water will help alleviate the pain. I knew it worked for the chicken pox, so I gave it a try for this. So I fill the tub with lukewarm water, dump a couple of cups of oatmeal in, and soak for probably 5-10 minutes. During this time, however, I noticed something going terribly wrong. Instead of the itch going away as I expected it to, it started getting worse. It became more severe and started spreading all over my chest and back where the worst of the burn was. By the end of the bath I was plagued with a frequent, painful, and burning itch that I couldn't for the life of me get rid of. My husband had to run to the store to get itch cream and plain aloe vera to help me out. I spent 10 minutes writhing around a almost screaming out of the sheer uncomfortable frustration I was in. When he came back he rubbed a mixture of aloe vera and Benadryll itch cream into my skin for half an hour before the itch finally began to subside. I don't know why I reacted that way. I'm not allergic to oatmeal. My husband blames it on the severity of the burn. All I know is, I've learned not to ever take oatmeal baths when my sunburn gets itchy ever again. I will never ever stray from a traditional aloe vera cure for my sunburn ever again. Oatmeal baths are evil, I tell you. Out of curiosity, though, does anyone have an effective cure for sunburns or sunburn related itching besides aloe vera or oatmeal?

hi latrivia yes oatmeal on a severe sunburn does not help evenaveeno that is more powdered form of oatmeal doesnt do much' but benadryl or alo vera does work, also tepid tea works if the area is not too large, but I know aloe vera does work and so does benadryl, I have also been there with a severe sunburn also if you take at least two tylenol when you first gethome it will lessen theseverity of a sunburn . I know this works too.

I use Eucerin Original Moisturizing Cream on my sunburns. It's amazing! I feel better instantly, AND it helps heal the burn instead of just making the pain feel better. I absolutely swear by that stuff! I would highly recommend it.
