i don't know if there is a study regarding this discussion that i want to share with you guys. i have several friends who eat anytime they want at home. and when they found out that me and my family has a strict rule when it comes to eating, specially dinner because most of us are already at home when we were still kids until the time i move out from my parents house. we always wait for each other to arrive before we have dinner. simple rule but hey, i think it has a good reason. my friends who actually ate alone or ate whenever they like ended up having their parents divorce or i should say, here in the Philippines, annulled. i'm not saying that i have a perfect family, cause i don't. but it just made me wonder that eating together creates a special bond even with your friends or special someone. When i was a supervisor, i came to realize that the easiest way to actually bond with my associates was to eat with them. everyone was at ease sharing their thoughts. eating with my girlfriend is actually one of the best times that we had. and whenever i eat alone, i always wish that she will be here beside me. my point here is that eating together makes a lasting and strong bond with other people. i bet the bestfriend that you had when you're a kid was the time you share your lunch or chair with someone you don't actually knew. if you think that your family relation or any kind of relation is going to a cliff. try eating together. hey i assure you, it's worth to try. it might save your relationship. have a good day everyone.

neilchua I found at work when we all ate lunch togeher we had a ball and any problems always got solved and nobody was miffed
about anything, this really does work. and families that eat
together usuallyh do not end up divorcing either. they have a much stronger bond between family members because of this.

i have to agree to that... when i was in the philippines, i eat alone because i was alone at home most of the time... my sister is studying and my parents and elder brother were here in Oman...
initially, i am uncomfortable to the extend that i don't eat anymore.. i skip meals...
now that i am in oman, my parents, brother and i eat together especially during lunch... its our way of family bonding... even discussion about family matters were done during this time... (no fighting!)...
there may not be studies that proves that eating together saves your relationship... but it does help... the fact that you can tolerate each other enough to eat with each other.. means there's hope for your relation and eventually, makes bond stronger.
