Especially in the summer everyone want to look good in short clothes and in the beach and then we try to eat good food or not to eat fat food.We going to make gymnastic to change our fat to muscles and to look thin, beauty and etc'.Is this all good for our health or only for our feeling and good mood when we look at the mirror? What is your opinion?

its good for both.. because seeing yourself in mirror is just going to make you feel good if its noticeable, so being good for mind and body :)) But of course it depends if you diet sensibly and eat the right foods without trying to starve your body, you can eat most foods if in moderation, the key is exercise obviously

Well, I do think that it is a little of both. But from my experience, I have had times when I lost weight and I actually felt worse physically and mentally. So it really depends on the person and the circumstances. And it is also possible to lose weight and see the opposite in the mirror. But in normal circumstances, weight loss is good in both aspects. I know the benefits from both angles, I have taken several nutrition classes in college, so I know about the health benefits, but the truth is, people don't make fun of other people because they may have health risks in 30+ years, they make fun of people because we live in a society where thinness is considered perfection and even an average person is seen as not up to those standards, and if you are even 5 pounds overweight some people treat you like you are the most disgusting person in the world. So yes, the health issues are important, and a person should try to be healthier, but from my experience, if you don't have a healthy mind, you won't have a healthy body. I think the key to being truly healthy is balance, and sometimes it is really hard to find that balance, especially with all the stigma against overweight people. I think one must at least have a little self-esteem to want to help themselves, because, the reason why so many yo-yo diet is because they don't work out the real reasons for their weight problems, which usually have to do with their mindset or things they have been through in their life. It is literally the "excess baggage" that weighs people down. Some people with this baggage starve themselves because they feel too big, when they are actually too skinny, and other people with this baggage eat all the time because they want to stuff the problems down so deep that they won't have to deal with them. So yes, if done the right way and if a person deals with the real issues, then they can become heathier and happier, but if they simply deny themselves what they really want and don't try to figure out the reasons they gained weight in the first place, well, they are just going to gain it back, and that lose-gain-lose-gain cycle is way more unhealthy than being overweight to start with, and not to mention it messes with our natural metabolisms.

Hello sir , hope you are doing well. In my opinion losing weight is good for healthy living in the first place. Because being obese causes a lot of health problems, as we all are aware of them. So it is good that we maintain and have a balanced diet. In the second place i could say , we can look more prettier and were the outfits we prefer or of our choice. Take care , blessings Happy mylotting!

hi friend I think every one love to have a beautiful body. But not all of us can do it due to the habit of eating. Some one would like to eat some fat food, like meat, cream, etc,so it will make you fat.In order to loss weight, you rather not to eat fat food, but some good food which is poor in fat.like eat more vegetables,or fruit. But i think we should understand all thing we do is for your body health, not only looks pretty.I think our body health is more important. But maybe we can have a little beautiful feeling in it.in any way, please note why we loss weight.

I personally want to lose weight for both reasons, to be healthier and to look good. I guess everyone has their own reasons for wanting to lose weight and you will probably see that they all revolve around the same things.

I guess the goal is the same, both for health and for self-satisfaction...It will be always nice to look ourselves in the mirror and we are healthy at the same time, have those ideal figure that we desire..It will always inspire me to dress without having those sides and fat belly..but, unfortunately, I am sitting a lot this time and makes me have this belly now which hinder me from wearing almost all of my blouses which I enjoy wearing before!

For me,its for the benefits of good health as overweight people have higher chance to get health problems. For the mirror is just depends as some might be so absurd to look thin and their confident level may drop because of that. Im working to kill my weight that is always OVER the limit..haha!

I would think losing weight is more for good health. However, it is not a bad idea, or rather a good motivation if one loses weight for the mirror. It does makes some sense. At least, the person still loses weight and this is good for health :P

Hey as2006, in my opinion loosing weight is for good health. A person who is very fat will develop heart related problems faster than I thin person. Eating health foods whether fat or thin is very essential for our health. when a person has lost weight is when they look at the mirror and appreciate their efforts. But there are people whose major aim in loosing weight is to look good. well they are doing something good for their body without noticing.

Not too thin or too fat will be better. The problem is now the fat one wants to lose weight, and the thin one wants to gain weight, and i'm the latter one.In my opinion, healthy is the most important.

I am stronger and leaner today than I have ever been. There is a difference between being thin and "looking good" and being healthy. I had to get that through my thick skull when I was working with my personal trainer (still working with her). I can stop eating (or cut my caloric intake by say 2/3) and become thin and not do a single thing. I could do this every summer and fit into my swimsuit I have been wearing for the last 15 years and everything would be fine. To be healthy is making a life change... a life-altering change to change the habits and the internal composition of the body inside. Sounds great, what's the catch.? First the catch is it takes a lot longer than just not eating. Second, there are sacrafices that need to be made. Want to eat a piece of chocolate cake? It is either no or a VERY small piece. Changing your excercise routine... getting up and moving. I am heavier than what I was previously but I think that I actually look better. Great question Zelo

I think it is good for the health but I believe it is more for the work up and get muscle that for the fat, because even if someone is thin and with not fat they would not have a good health, work up our bodies give us health, I have heard that have some fat would be good for health, but it is not healthy to be over weight, I have head people that say that they are over weight and they are in a good, but I don't think because their hearth must to be full of fat and it would fail easily, also their level of sugar would very high, well and it is good for the mirror too, I think that everyone like to looks good, because they want to attract the opposite gender, so they want to look good how they can.

Losing weight is good for your health because we were never designed to carry all that excess body fat. It clogs up our arteries and veins and causes the heart to work harder. Also it is unattractive so it is good to lose weight so that your image in the mirror is attractive to the eye. A little excess weight is okay but not too much.

In my opinion, losing weight in short time,it must not good for health, only for the mirror and your feeling. At the begin of my summer vacation,i also want to lose weight,i want to wear short pants, short clothes. So i go to gymnastic to do excise to lose weight,i want to lose weight healthyly.but lose weight must eat few to keep weight,it is not good for health,i think. One of a nutritionist has said that one person be fat with a long time, how can you wish you lose weight within a short time?Otherway,if we lose weight too quickly,it is easy to be fater again. So lose weight is a good thing, everyone all want to looked beautiful, but we must slowly and health. It can not vexed. Now i do excise half a hour one day,and eat few and few day by day to make my stomach smaller.I think one day,i must be slim.

very big waistline can increase risks of getting heart problems and some other disease so it's good to keep your waistline within the healthy size. so it's not just about looking good in front of the mirror but being too skinny is not good for your health. and also in the mirror (i still don't understand why some people wants to look like some walking skeleton wearing a thin skin). and those fat-fearing (fat = food) people should stop doing whatever they're doing and eat a healthy dose of fat
