Gerald Horne, contributing editor of Political Affairs, a magazine published by the Communist Party, USA. Speaking March 28, 2007 at the dedication of the Communist Party, USA archive at New York University Tamiment Library, Horne traces the downward spiral of fortune for Communists in the latter half of the twentieth century. But in the closing paragraphs of his speech, Horne suddenly becomes hopeful, pointing to the arrival of what Obama describe as "the ones we have been waiting for." Joelle Fishman, the chairman of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) Political Action Commission. In a column titled, “Big political shifts are underway,” Fishman says that Obama could lead “a landslide defeat of the Republican ultra-right” this November and that he is “ready to listen” to the “left and progressive voters” backing him. Fishman makes it clear that the CPUSA is part of this coalition. Obama is even has a forum to these people http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/group/MarxistsSocialistsCommunistsforObama

Obama's background consists of two main things... his Muslim family background and his communist mentor referred to as simply "Frank" in his book. He has many associations with not only communism, but also black separatists and criminals. There is nothing in his background that qualifies him to be president and much that would deny him as security clearance. Yet people actually want to turn our nuclear arsenal over to him?

European Socialist, Marxist, and Communist support him. American Socialist, Marxist, and Communist support him. Middle East Muslims support him. American Muslims support him. The Blame America First Club support him. And they wonder why I do not.

Obama is an intelligent young man, unlike you who thinks the world (communism, muslims and who else is out to get you), the most dangerous criminals out there are the US soldiers and the currently dodgy government which endorses war for the profit of very few people.

What I don't understand is why, no matter what becomes evident in Obama's campaign and no matter who endorses him, people still want to vote for him. Are they uninformed or ingnorant, or do they just hate the Republican party so much that they will vote for him no matter what?

Thanks for the link. There's a lot of interesting stuff on it. As it says, by no means is Obama a true Marxist. I'm not either. But he obviously is further left than the GOP and ultra-right wingers. Which is a good thing, in my opinion. Obviously his election could be seen as a sign of a electorate moving to the left, which I can see would be a hopeful sign for the true left wingers. Doesn't mean it would a true Marxist or Communist is likely to be elected in the foreseeable future. But I think the country may be wising up to the failures of ultra conservatism.

Isn't it amazing how the main stream media just overlooks all of this stuff? he has had quite a few questionable relationships in his past but no one ever asks about them. Why is that? I am not against changing the way most are our politics are done, however I am not just going to support anyone who drops the word change. I am sure people in the communist party would like change, I am sure that people who don't work or are here illegally would like free health care for a change, I am sure there are lots of people who would like these sorts of changes, however I am not one of them. I also saw today that Iran just started doing some long range missle testing. I am sure if Obama goes over there and has a friendly talk with them like he says we should do then they will cease this right away too. Then again, if that strategy fails him he might "change" and start proposing a new one.

It's about time Iran got some nuclear missiles together, why should US's rabid puppies Israel have all the fun?

I used to be all for Obama. Until he began pulling the race card. In the early days of his campagne(SP?) he used to talk about not being racially one-sided, and that he was both white and black. But now, he only focuses on the fact that he's part black, and has been favoring the black community, completely oblivious to everyone else. I'm not racist, but I think he shouldn't focus only on the black community. He should be doing good deeds for everyone, not just one race.

So, what's the percentage of the population that's black in Iowa, where Obama went to help out with the flooding disaster? And then there's his tax plan, which will lower taxes for 95% of Americans--that by itself is a BIG good deed for everyone. You see what you want to see.

I don't think Barack Obama is communist or is supportive of those ideals in any way. At the same time, I think the forum shows exactly why he is a bad fit as president: he'll do anything to get the vote. For all the people that say that's a McCain fault, this shows that it's much worse with Obama. There's not really a way to know what he really thinks or what he'll really do, since he agrees with everyone who's convenient at the time.

"he'll do anything to get the vote. For all the people that say that's a McCain fault, this shows that it's much worse with Obama." Really? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9jgXzgvFZI Now you show me your list of (at least, since you claim it's "much worse with Obama") 28 pandering flip-flops.

Obama is half of McCain's age. Give him time.

People are tripping all over themselves with what negative label to stick on Obama. He's even been called separate things that directly contradict each other. Please, explain how someone can be an elitist AND a communist? What silliness. Also, I think anyone can create an account (and in turn a blog) on my.barackobama.com, so it's disingenuous to conflate that group with Obama himself as if they are one and the same.
