The Great Plate Debate

United States

Okay, so I was watching the news yesterday and apparently in California, some people want to get rid of a plate that has a stained glass cross and the words "I believe" on it. Now, since we are all writers, may I safely assume that we are all freicly protective of our civil right of free speach and free press? I mean, let's think about this, how is it right or cool of them to make people who want to express themselves illegal? It's like saying that Christianity is illegal and we all have to convert to another faith, but heck, it's all right for Islamists to have one? (please note that I am useing regilouns as examples, I don't care what you are, let's be friends). What are these people thinking? why don't we just make a plate for all the religions and leave it at that? Instead of just making it wrong for ONE religion, lets make it RIGHT for ALL religions.

That really doesnt surprise me that this is happening in California. It is never OK to trample on someone else's beliefs no matter what belief, religion or thing they espouse. The exception would be those who believe in ped***0PHi***la because that violate's someone else's civil rights.

Exactly, if it is illegal that I don't care one way or another. But just saying that Christians can't put their beliefs on their car plates is stupid. It's like that saying 'Pick your battles' - this is a stupid one to pick. THat's why I think they should just forget it and let the people who want it to be illegal pick their own plates with their own beliefs on it. example "I'm ahteist, deal with it!" or whatever. Ya know?

Religion is blown way out of proportion. Especially with the catholics and christians. They not only force their beliefs on people, but want to be recognized as THE religion, and feud with any other that may impose a threat to "their" community. Anyone who is not with them, they want to be against or talk into being with them. Screw that. When people come to me to try and get me to join such religions, then talk trash to me when I say no, will get either a fist to their face, or a foot in the balls. I dare you to try and force your religion on me. Watch what happens. Also, this country was supposed to NOT include religion in their laws, but they somehow managed to screw that up too. And guess which religion is involved in our laws. Yeah, that's right. Catholics and Christians. Those two are the only reasons why I'm not a religious person. Nothing but a bunch of bigots. Consider this a rant. I'm just sick of it all.

I totally understand what you mean. I'm Christian but I don't like to talk to others about religion, or preach. I hate preachy people. I just think its unfair. It's like a conspiracy theory, one person was mad about something one day and pinned it on the plates and got a whole lot of other people angry about it too. So they want to illegalize it. Which is totally bigotted. They don't know who these other people are, all they know is that these people are Christians. That's why I think we should have a plate for all religions. Like several different sorts so that other people can pick which one they like best. That way, it's not taking anything away from anyone else and everyone is accepted and included. Ummmm...Is...what's the word...Athist-ism a religion? well, let's have a plate for that too.
