Is it possible that Religion will unite due to the crisis we are facing now?

I've heard many people saying that religion should unite to solve the world's crisis. The idea of some people is that, things will be better if we are all united in everything. 1 Religions and 1 God. It is a fact that there is only one God but there are many religions today that are worshiping one God. So, they said it is good to unite, with one purpose, and it is world peace and if there is peace it helps to solve the world crisis. What is your opinion on this? Please share.

Thanks for starting such a nice discussion here.It is good if we all unite in one religion and one code of life. We,Muslims, already believe in unity of religions that there was only one religion since begining of mankind. All the prophets were sent to preach the same religion basing on Monotheism,Prophethood and belief in the Day of Judgement.Unfortunately people who came after Prophets, diverted from this religion to suit their worldly aims.Muslims still believe that Jesus(pbuh)is coming to them to unite all the believers in one religion i.e ISLAM.That's why our beloved Prophet Muhammad(pbuh)had predicted that Islam will enter every house, town, city and continent one day.Jesus will also create the first world state basing on the holy Quran to fill this world with peace, prosperity and justice ...........So all believers will then unite in one religion.

Oh!! great!! so Muslims also believe in the coming of Jesus? that's good!!! Well, If religion will unite in the same way that Jesus wants us to do, FINE I will go with the idea but if in some other way that the majority who don't believe about His coming, I think it's better to follow our own beliefs than to unite with things each one can not agree. what do you think?

Thanks for your comments. We believe the last Day will never come unless Jesus(pbuh)comes to this world again and unite all believers in one universal religion. We also know where exactly Jesus will come down from skys. The place is Damascus,Syria. He will unite all Muslims and Christians in one faith to kill the blind Antichrist and his followers, who will not believe in him. This is what will happen to all those who will not believe in his second coming to this world......We do love him from the core of our heart and soul and it will be a great honour for us or our generations to shed our blood on his orders. We will never leave him alone this time.It is our promise to him and God Almighty.......

One thing I have forgotten to add.Jesus(pbuh)will come down from the sky.He will break the cross and kill the pig.It means he will deny the concept that he was crucified on the cross and will announce that pork is prohibited by God Almighty. He will also deny that he was a God or son of a God.Do you think Christians will not believe in his words? No,not at all.......When they will listen these things from him personally, they will certainly believe in what he will say.............This is how most of the doubts will be cleared on his coming and we will unite into one nation and one religion. This has to happen before the End Time.We Muslims are 100 % sure about it b/c it has been clearly predicted by our beloved Prophet Muhammad(pbuh)............

Hi celestial, Thank you for starting this discussion, I think it is a very interesting topic. I would love to see the world's religions unite, or at least accept and respect each other as another road to God. While I believe it will happen, I don't expect it to happen quickly. There is far too much exclusiveness in the world, and those at the head have a stranglehold on most of their followers. It is very sad to see, but it is very evident. The Roman Catholic church has made some great strides, especially since the time of Pope John xxiii. Until that time, they were very exclusive within Christianity, but are much more open today. It is true that they still have a long way to go, but they are more flexible than some. I do see hope in the changes that are coming about in some churches, but especially in the large number of teachers who are talking about the truth that we are all one. God is not exclusive, and will give us all the time we need, but eventually we must all learn. I think the acceptance that there are many paths to God will lead to world peace and the elimination of most, if not all of our problems. Blessings.

Hi again celestial, I think the Roman Catholic church has made great strides compared to where they were fifty to sixty years ago, but they are certainly not the most advanced. They still don't accept women priests, they don't allow priests to marry, they refuse to accept homosexuality etc. The worldwide Anglican Communion is one of the most advanced in some parts of the world, but there is great division in other areas especially over homosexual issues, and in a few areas the ordination of women, although that is very widely accepted now. They are very accepting of other Christian faiths, and I believe show great promise. There is a much smaller group known as The association of Unity churches, that welcomes people of all beliefs. I don't know what place any of those will hold in the church of the future, but at the moment they are among those who show the most promise. I still think that we have to be able to find a way of following God without making others wrong for doing it differently. I hope this makes some sense to everyone. Blessings.

well, you have good points on why you like religions to be united. You mention the Roman Catholic, do you think this is the dominant religion that will start to unite the church and the state? I'm just curious if you know about it. I'm very sure that God wants us to unit but what religion do you think should be good to join as one? What do you think? is it the Protestant,Catholic,Jehova's witness, Lutheran,Muslims,Hindus, etc. Just you idea, what?

Much of the worlds Crises have been caused by Religion. Many wars have been started and many people murdered, in the Name of God. Perhaps Religion is the Biggest Sin in this world. The world has become a much better place since the Separation of Church and State. If there is a Place in this world for religion it hasn't been found yet. People should unite against Religion to make the world a Safer place to Live.

These days it seems there is a religion born every minute and people preach this religion and others listen. Then the prophet makes a mistake and is taken down from his high place and people scatter looking for a new messiah. I saw this account of a boy who has stayed under a tree for a long time without moving and even eating. He is considered a god or a prophet, I'm not sure which.

Well, I am not sure who is that prophet you are saying who made a mistake. Ang who was the Messiah? What I know is that Jesus in the Messiah. He is the savour of all mankind.

I think only in times of calamities and disasters, people of different faiths will come together to help the victims;donate money, food, water and medical supplies, send medical teams and so on. However, to be united as under one religion, one god - no, I don't think that's possible. Each religion would want to preserve its own identity, its core beliefs. I really can't imagine it happening!

Well, I hope it won't happen. But the fact of worshiping in the same day all over the world, I mean Universal worship day.. It will happen. do you believe on that?

I very much doubt that religions will unite. Although they may unite on moral issues, they have very different ideas about what and who god is. For instance, the Jewish god and the Christian god may be the same, but they believe many different things about him. They believe that he expects different conduct. Even between Christian churches there are a lot of differences. Furthermore, it is important to recognize that there are religions that do not recognize one god. Some religions try to be open to whatever god people individually worship; however, they are in the minority. I think that it would be better for us to learn to respect religious differences rather than to unite because people are not going to change what they believe.

I think you have good points on this. sure I agree that each one should respect each other's religious belief but there are people who want people to be united in one religion and worship the same day universally. Like today, there 2 different days that people around the world are worshiping. Others have Sunday worship and others have Saturday worship. I;m sure that the people whoa re worshiping on Saturdays are in minority so then, time will come that the majority wins, and unity of religion happens which should not suppose to be because as what you said, we must respect other people/s religious beliefs. what do you think about this?

Well, as much as some people wish for conformity, I do not believe that it will happen. If I were in the minority who worshiped on Saturday, the fact that most people worship on Sunday would not make Saturday seem less holy to me. For religions everywhere to unite, some people would have to give up their beliefs, and many people are not willing to do this. Many religions hold that the only way to "unite everyone" is to convert everyone, yet they refuse to change themselves. It is a wonderful idea yes, but I do not believe it could ever happen.

Nope, that would mean more problems. We should probably throw out all religion and the world will be better.

I think that it could. We have seen relgion come together in many hard times such as the depression and the civil war. We could possible see a rise of christianity during this time.

I don't think that there will ever be a way for all people to unite under one religion. I just think that religion is overall a bad idea. It is just another form of oppression which weighs us down. Religion was originally established as a governing system. That's whu I think that religion in any sense is a bad idea. But there are far too many religions for them to ever unite into one.

Well, I don't think religion is a bad idea. It helps people to respect others, help them and be a good person because they are serving a God who teach them how to be a good person. Now, if a person has no religion, he has nothing to base upon his belief? Well, I will respect whatever religion you have, that is your choice and we have our freedom to choose what we want in life. But for me, I should say, religion can guide a person in what he believes and how he lives with it. thanks for sharing your thoughts.
