As I am sitting here I am munching on more of my homegrown brocholli. This is a shot of them in the pot as they cooked. A little butter was all that I added. I salted them slightly as I ate them too. The water is so green from the nutrients in them. Store bought they have no color left in the water.an this tastes great as a snack before dinner. Sorry dad, I ate them all. HAHAHAHA! Do you pick things from your garden just for you to cook and eat and not for anyone else? I do0 it often. I deserve it afterall from the hard work I put into them growing. Grandpa Bob comes first as far as the treats I grow. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I eat plenty down on the field, but once something makes it as far as the kitchen then I'll share it out. I'm afraid not many of the sugar snap peas have made it as far as the kitchen so far this year. They are far too delicious eaten raw from the vine.

I have to give you credit for a beautiful garden and flowers. I see you really have a green thumb for growing and not everyone has that ablility. That is great, I know that the brocholli was good and that is great. Enjoy cause that is the best veggies you can get now adays. What you grown in your own yard. Have a good one and happy growing.

I hope it was good, seeing that you didn't even share lol. I wish i could grow my own fruits/veggies,but alas no such talent. But i also think you deserve to enjoy the fruits.. or in this case broccoli of your labour.

Oh that sounds sooo yummy! I love to pick things from the garden to cook for myself or to rinse off & eat while I'm outside...I encourage my 2 little boys to do it too as it's a great way to get them to eat their vegetables & fruit!

Nope- I always share—I mean come on Grandpa Bob… I share everything I pick- we all work in the garden in one way or another- I probably do the least amount of work out there. I love picking things from the garden to eat- We so far have had lettuce, carrots, and radishes… that is all that is ready so far!

I grew broccoli one year, it was good, but the first cutting was the only decent sized one. I steam it, Keep the nutrients in it, not going down the drain. Love them just blanched with a blue cheese or ranch dip....mmmm.

mmmmm yummy! I love broccoli but i have never had it cooked with butter - I have to be careful of my cholesterol level and I can't eat too much butter! I do like my broccoli steamed anyway as I like a bit of crunch in my veg! i am surprised at you not even letting your dad have one piece although you are right that you deserve an extra treat for all the work you put in! xxx

You didn't even share with your dad? Shame on you Grandpa Bob. If I sat here and thought about it I am sure there have been things that I have eaten and not shared with my family too. hahaha

haha that is really satisfying i bet. to see things grow from the ground and then have them harvested and enjoyed all by yourself! i guess sometimes i prefer to enjoy them with others who can then tell me what a great job i have done with planting and being a great farmer. your retirement sounds really fun with tending the garden and being an active mylot member. here's to more good harvests!

Hi GRANDPA BOB! I guess, no one deserve it more than you. you have worked hard for your plants and trees and I am so happy to learn that you are now enjoying the fruits of your labor. The only thing that makes me sad is I can only see them in photos and not really enjoy and share the bounty of your harvest. haha.. Take care and God bless!

I too have a small vegetable patch and I grow some vegetables.I love brocholli so i grow alot of them.I find the homegrown vegetables very fresh and more tasty than the ones bought in the market. I do share my vegetables with some of my friends. They wait for my vegetables as they too like to have fresh and tasty veges.

I don't have a garden and even if I did it would be hard for me to manage because of my disability. Crawling around on the ground is not an option. However, I do agree with you about organic vegetables. I shop at Farmer's Markets all the time and agree that the vegetables taste better. Plus I like the environmental aspect of my food not having to go so many miles to end up on my plate. All the stuff I bought yesterday was raised in Massachusetts. I didn't know we had nectarines here, but apparently we do.

Good for you,but as you said growing your own food is a little to much work. The good thing is that you know that they are 100% natural , and you get a sense of pride and accomplisment when you eat something that you have grown.
