i cannot stand it when i go shopping or something and the cashier is only helping one person even though you are waiting and theirs doesnt seem to even look like its gonna end up in a sale or they are on the phone.. i was going to get my hair cut today with my hubby and he went first since he was gonna get his hair washed too and i wasnt.. well lets just say that the other lady that was cutting someone elses hair was almost done when my hubby was called back.. and then when my hubby was done she was still doing that guy.. his hair was DONE!! but he was flirting and cute and from what i can tell was telling her a load of crap but she was buying it so a trim turned into a long long session with her and so i chose to not even get my hair cut then.. my hair is thick and long so if i were to get my hair cut it would take forever for my hubby to wait so i passed.. or worse i would get that chick that only wanted to talk.. i dont want to chat when im in a place i am a person that goes into a store and knows what i want and gets there and goes in.. buys it and leaves.. i dont mind talking some but i am always trying to get a ton of things done at once so its not like i have time to hang out with people.. anyways i was really mad since this was insane since there was only 2 workers and that one took like over an half hour on a guys hair that didnt even need trimming there for screwing everyone else up.. grrrrr.. so what do you guys do? do you try to get their attention and confront them or just walk away?? i figure its not worth telling them that they arent doing their job but its insane that these people get away with it.. at any of the places i have worked if you like left a phone ringing and didnt answer it by the 3rd ring no matter if you had a line of people or the other 2 lines ringing you would get screamed at..

I haven't worked retail in a long time but what i remember is that multitasking is the key. I worked in a pharmacy where i had to answer phones, stock shelves, handout prescriptions and help costumers when needed. I was never rude but i was efficient and friendly. My point is she needed to learn to be more efficient, if she wanted to flirt with the guy, get his number then go about business. I am sorry you didnt get your hair cut. And i also have to state that the work ethic now a days stinks. My mom is always coming home and telling me stories of how workers walk around the store taking two hours on a task that should only take 30 minutes. Talking to others in the store or on the phone which is a no no at her store. Its crazy.

I work at 2 retail stores in the local mall and I know what you mean sometimes. I hate going into stores and seeing how careless the employees are sometimes, knowing the right way to do things. They might be sitting on chairs behind the cash *( a no no) talking or texting on their cellphones, tlaking on the phones to their friends etc. I guess it all depends. If the stores not busy or has no one in it, chatting is alright. One of my stores is never busy at night, if it wasnt for the random friend walking buy Id die of boredom. But when it comes to your job you have to take it seriously. But I have a peeve with customers who are rude. Ive seen people of all kinds and it never ceases to amaze me on how rediculous and rude some customers can be. I know its my job to help you, but I cant perform miracles and I cant make deals, so please dont get mad at me for prices or the companys issues, cause if I could id change it but I have no authorization to. I hate when customers get mad at me for my companies decisions, cause in reality, all I do is work there, I have no connections with head office lol

Oh yes...i have had that experience a lot of times, they dont even bother to look up at us to answer our question, they just keep focused on what they do, either answering a call, flirting or doing their own work, least bothered about the person standing in front, you know, i have even reduced going to certain places because of these irresponsible people...in most cases, i just walk away to another place, but agian wherever you go, its almost the same everywhere, so i choose the better one

thats becos the cashier has to tally the accounts in the evening and he has to see that he has collected the exact amount from each person
