Would you be brave enough to try a new hairdresser in a totally new saloon. I have tried it, and have found some to be good and some have ruined my style. I have very curly hair so they tend to spring to life, so instead of the regular step cut, i sometimes feel adventerous and ask them to style it. Not that I havent regretted it, but then thas crazy me. Do you also act like me or are more one saloon oriented, and play it safe.

I had to when I moved to Virginia. It was August and all the kids were having their hair cut for school. I went to the nearest hair salon and sat in the chair. It was horrible. I have very curly hair; it was as if she put a bowl on my head and cut everything that wasn't under it. It took a long time to grow back. I went back to where I used to live in NY and asked my old hairdresser what to tell them to avoid this problem again. I had no idea because he had been cutting my hair for 20 years. He gave me some magic years. I went back and toured all the hairdressing places, asking my questions. I received a "yes, I can do that" from the 2nd place; and I have been going there since. I am always pleased with my hair cut and think Ginny is a genius.

Aww, thats awful. Poor you. That must have been a rotten experience. Anyway, mcat, please tell me what the cut is called. i too have curly hair and cant seem to find the right cut for it. Its always steps in my area. Can you send me a photgraph of yours or some suggestions of how to cut the hair. Will be really grateful. If only I could wish Ginny here to cut my hair and then back to you. lol

I think the magic word was Layered, but it was over 10 years ago, so I can't be sure. I have very short hair which is easy to keep. I don't own a comb or brush. Just poke it around a bit with my fingers. http://www.mylot.com/w/image/1891029.aspx If this link comes through, it is a picture of me. If not, check out my profile.

i normally like to stick with the same one as they know how i like to have my hair so i don't have to take in pictures or try to explain and then the worry of, what if do it totally not right or cut it too short and so on.. Can make me nervous.. But i did try hairdresser when on holiday in turkey.. He was very good though, as gave advise how my hair would really suit me. So i did leave it in his capable hands .. That was enjoyable though lol as kept playing with me hair and they flirt little hehe.. no complaints from me :p

Mandy, you lucky girl. You even allowed your turkey hairdresser to flirt with you. hehe. Yes, sometimes the new hair dressers can give you a better look than the old and tried ones. But then, mostly we revert back to them only and feel safe in their capable hands. Thanks and cheers.

No, in normal circumstances, I won't like to change my hairdresser. I have been going to him for ages, so he knows very well what is my choice and how to I prefer my hair to be cut.

Like the saying goes, old is gold. I guess feeling comfortable with your hairdresser is of the main issues. You can trust him. Thanks and have a nice day.
