Do you prefer cryptic clues?

Would you rather have straightforward clues or cryptic for your crossword ? I prefer cryptic to the one word clues because I think they give you extra information - albeit not in a straightforward form. If the clue just says 'Flower' there are loads of possible answers but if, for example it said 'Blooming Royal clangers' it would have to be 'bluebells'.

I like cryptic clues, but my husband likes straight clues. In some respects, it's more difficult to complete a crossword with one word clues, as there could be several 'right' answers. With cryptic clues, you have to work it out, and it's most unlikely there'll be more than one possible answer. Plus you've got the satisfaction of knowing you got there in the end. Bring on the cryptics!

Yes, that's exactly how I feel... & my husband doesn't like cryptic either.

I don't have a preference. I think sometimes straight forward clues are better and other times, I'd prefer cryptic ones.
