My family is really close. Any time any of us need some thing we are there for each other. Even if we are mad at each other for some thing if we call and say I need help or I need to talk the other is there for you. We have been there for each other for the deaths and births the weddings and divorces the good financial times and the bad. The times where we just need to talk or cry. We all have each others phone numbers and use them. I talk to my mother every single day. My grandmother at least 3 times a week. My younger bother once or twice a week. Even my aunt and uncles, cousins, and married into family and I talk on a pretty regular basis. My husbands family isn't that close. Don't get me wrong he talks to his mom, dad, and step mom often. And talks to his sister once in a while but its different. They don't call each other often and hardly talk to the extended family such as aunts and uncles cousins and what not. My husband has become closer to my family then his own. I mean he doesn't even have his grandmother’s phone number in his cell phone but has my grandmothers and uses it often. Anyway - How is your family? Close like mine not so close like his. Share your thoughts!

I am estranged from my family. I couldn't be happier with my choice to cut them out of my life. I would like to reexamine 'family' though. To me everyone has two (or three if you are adopted) sets of family, the one they were born into, the one where you weren't given a choice. And the second family which is a collection of friends and people that you are close to and/or mean a lot to you, where you DO get a choice. My second family means the world to me and my first family means nothing good to me.

My family is EXACTLY the same. Oh yeah that includes you LOL That's the way it should be... There is nothing greater than family love. Being a bunch of Italian Americans we say we can do whatever to each other but no one else can or they will hear from us, and it won't be fun! Isn't it amazing how many families are not tight like ours? No matter what the deal or how long it's been since we last talked, we stick together and are there for each other! My mother in law is in the hospital right now. That family is not so close, as you know, but they have all pulled together for her. Thank God for that!

Funny I can think back to people saying the exact same thing we have or would have said but us screaming at them for saying it. It is nice that it doesn't matter if we haven't talked in 5 years we can pick up right where we left off. I hope your MIL is okay let me know if I can do anything. She is in my prayers now. There family is a lot like Brians close only when needed. And even then as much as they are there they aren't. Its a hard situation and really hard to see. My hopes is that I will be the glue that gets his family closer. I have been trying for 4 years now and have MANY to go!

Yea. My family is close too. However, I am close to my maternal side. I was brought up by my maternal grandmother and am her eldest granddaughter. I have one younger brother and 6 cousins after me. The youngest one is 5 years old. Every Lunar New Year, I'll have my reunion dinner with my maternal family.

I'm very close with my sisters and parents. Also very close to my grandparents on my moms side. We used to be close to my moms siblings and their kids but everyone grew up and we stopped keeping in touch. My dad's side of the family is not very close.

Sounds like my husbands family. They actualy rent out the park for the day! There is about 150 people if every one comes. It is actually two families brought together by grandma. Its grandmas family and her husbands family which is the one we are part of. Hope that makes sense the way I said it. But any way its always fun to get together even if only once a year or so.

LOL. We get together every other year at grandmas (yeah we try and pack all 55 of us into grandmas 4 bedroom house for the day) We're also having grandma and grandad's 60th wedding anniversary party this summer so We're all supposed to be there. Grandma likes getting everyone together.
