Well, someone (or several someones) has seen fit to rate me negatively again. I must be getting better here when I'm beginning to receive "hate ratings" more frequently. As you can tell, I think it's amusing. Of course, I don't want to have a torrent of negative ratings to where my star simply disappears - I'd begin to have a bit of a self-image problem at that point, I would think! But, I am still amused that someone has felt it necessary to give me an "F", as it were, simply because I either don't agree with them or they don't agree with me. I have my suspicions on which discussion this took place, but hey - I'll live, you know? Believe me - I've been through FAR worse! I'll admit....I really don't like it when people respond to your discussion in a way that implies that you're an idiot and are typical "whatever" because of your views - and I will respond to that, but without bad words....just strong opinion. But, only after being accused of whatever it is they assume I'm guilty of. Anyway, now that I've apparently received another "badge of honor" (having my star downgraded), what other goals should I set for myself on myLot? I don't know why this amused me the way it did, but I'm just sitting here chuckling like, "I'll be dammed - I'm down a point!" So - how about you - do you get a kick out of someone giving you a negative rating just because you disagree with them? Does it, in a weird sort of way, give you a level of satisfaction knowing that someone felt the need to respond to something you said in that manner? (No - I don't want everyone doing it now!! Please - I really do like being liked!! Honest!! LOL)

Truthfully i don't care, I am not here for a star rating i'm here to make friends, read posts and reply to them not to mention make them when I feel like it and get advice from people.. I have been here two years and was a 10 for all that time and someone recently down me on my star I simply gave up.. Personally I think mylot should just get rid of them and be done with it.. I've seen so much conversation about the star I would think that mylot by now would get make them disappear lol.. I did also see the level as you mention those too I guess they are ok, it just shows who is most active on the site than others, me I'm probably down at level 1 ha ha i am active but not as much as i was when I first started here..

That's mostly why I'm here - and to have an outlet for this that and the other thing that's on my mind. That's why I created this discussion - so many are so worried about the star, and yes - it's definitely nice that people think highly of you to boost your rating up. But, I came here initially for the idea that I could earn to sound off (politely, of course) and then began to enjoy the company, the neighbors, the entire community. So my neighbor doesn't like me - oh well. Unless he regularly blocks my driveway or flattens my tires (can you tell I've been there?? LOL), I'll get over it. I have other neighbors.

I wouldn't let it get to you too much but I hear ya girl. I would never give someone a negative rating unless they were outright rude and disrespectful, but everyone is entitled to their opinions and here on mylot it is an open forum so if people are going to start giving negative ratings for disagreeing, then they should re-read the guidelines here at mylot because that is just simply unacceptable.

Exactly - that's how I see it, even though I don't remember seeing that in the guidelines. It's just common sense - you can't have a true discussion if everyone's on the same page - then it's just parroting what everyone else is saying and eventually has no meaning at all. (Hmmmm - sound a lot like some parts of the District of Columbia. )

It has happened to so many of us, I'll never understand what satisfaction they get from doing this. There is always a rotten apple in the bunch.

Well, I did enjoy seeing my star rise, so to speak, but hey - they say redheads are fiery, so RED is my color!!! Silly people - I've been hurt before - nothing about a star can hurt me!! I've known real bruises and broken bones - a star is nothing but fun to have!!

It really amuses me to no end that in a forum where we're supposed to be all adults we have such childish members! Only a small handful but you know the saying about one bad apple! To some folks here, if you're even a little bit left of center that makes you a jerk, a moron, an idiot and whatever else they choose to call you, and these come from some of those who call themselves Christians! Our star rating may also be called our "reputation" but I've stopped taking it to heart. Sure, I like to be liked as much as you do, I'm sure, but sometimes that's just not possible. Consider the source and move on. Annie

Thanks so much for the BR. You're right, for some it is unforgivable to be slight left of the wacky-far-right. Annie

With some - it's not a little left of center - it's a little left of the far right!!! Extremism personified. But, I'm not overly concerned - I think it's more funny than not. Besides, this is my way of letting them know that. A verbal "you can't hurt me!!!

My rating went down a few days ago and I think it was because of a discussion that I had started, but I don't know why it did take a nose dive, I wasn't rude in my post.. But since then, I have taken to rating as many posts as I can with a plus, I am counteracting the trolls.. Or at least trying.. I have so much better things to do with my time than to waste it just looking for post to give a negative to.. And a plus makes everyone happy, so I just give as many of the ++++ as I can.. Have a great day and enjoy the notoriety..

I kind of wish we could know what ratings we've received on what discussions, even if we didn't know WHO because then we'd get a feel for which kinds of discussions attract that kind of rater - although, as I said, I'm pretty sure I know because of a commonality of discussions just before the points dropped. Still - it would be nice. It's really not meant to be popular, but to show, I think, whether you contributed in a worthy manner (regardless of which side of the fence you sit on). Still....'tis what it is.
