i talking about people with no scuba gear or any kind of breathing apparatus in view. whether the person is playing a mermaid, or saving someone's life. what about that commercial that showed a circus underwater. pretty fantastic. we know they have breathing tubes available, but they still have to hold their breath and perform for a good length of time. a lot of people couldn't do it. they just make it look so easy and i admire that. What Are Your Thoughts?

I have to agree with the other response. The first thing that popped up in my mind was 'cgi'. I wouldn't be surprised if they used computer graphics. But they could doing the real deal, but only in little segments in a green pool? Haha. So they could add whatever scenery they would like on it. I'm not too sure though. That's something to look into. :]

that sounds good to me. and like you said before cg it was different. i remember once they were showing tubes of air hidden for the actor to sip on at certain intervals. even then they needed to be partly athletic. regardless how they pull it off. it's all good to me. it is a great illusion. their speclalty.

Yeah, it is pretty cool. Especially when you see people swimming and you can see their muscles working and stuff. And most of the time it's so flawless the way it's shot. And major kudos to the actors, of course. I don't think I've seen that commercial with a circus underwater. That sounds neat.

the circus looked genuinely under water. they shot a clown out of a canon. it was a dream sequence when a man's washer was over flowing and his kids brought him back to reality by asking if they were still going to the circus. i loved the scene because it was relaxing like a dream underwater.

i think that they film underwater scanes by later adding the water visual to the movie, or taking a cutout of the person and animate it to look as if they were swinning, butI don't know how they dit it before computers. Also, they could film 10-second parts and splice them together to maake a 5-minute underwater scene.
