My mothr-in-law told me that the way to make your cake mixes last longer is to freeze them. She freezes just about everything that is freezeable and says this is a great way to take advantage of food sales. You can buy whats on sale and then freeze it for when you need it. I freeze my bread which really helps because I go through alot of bread. But I was wondering if anyone else freezes cake mixes or any other type of boxed food?

I didn't know you could freeze cake mixes. I've never heard of that, but its good if you can. I wonder if it works for all boxed foods, I don't know how many things I've had to throw away because I don't use them fast enough and they end up getting weavels in them, especially if it has some kind of flour or cornmeal in it. I haven't ever frozen bread either, it doesn't get freezer burn?

No it doesnt get freezer burn. If you wrap it in a towel as it thaws out it wont retain any moisture and you could never tell that it has been frozen. I buy six loafs at a time and freeze five of them. My kids cant tell the difference. It doesnt matter what type of bread it is either.

Cake mixes tend to have a fairly longshelf life anyway. I dont think I would need to freeze them because I generally only buy them if I'm going to make a cake and use them farily soon after I've bought them.
