Your baby had cradle crap? How was it?

My baby is 6 months and she has cradle crap. I started to put olive oil and it was working but it was a big mess all time! Somebody told it will go off by itself until 1 year old and it doesnt really hurt unless she scratch her head a lot which she doesnt... So i stoped using the olive oil but i am afraid it wont go off or it will hurt her or anything! Can somebody give me more information about it?

I used baby oil on my kids hair when they has cradle cap. I would massage it in a few minutes before bath time and then comb through it with a little baby comb. It loosened some of it up and it washed away when I washed their hair. It did not all go away at once, but after a few nights of doing that it went away.

My daughter has a head full of hair. She has since birth. She only had the cradle cap the one time. I just made sure I rinsed her hair really well when I washed it. That really seemed to help.

All right. But she has so much! And i am really scared of hurting her with her comb!... And now she is so stuborn she wont let me do nothing! But the bigger probe is the mess of the oil because she is so much hairy that is hard to reach the cradle cap you know what i mean? Thats why i decided to let it go by itself but i just wantd to make sure it will really go until about 1 year...

I never had to worry with cradle cap with my son but my daughter had it really bad. I took her to our pediatrician and he said to use a drop of head and shoulders to wash her head. It seemed to work but I don't think it made it go away any faster than any other soulution suggested. As far as it hurting, even though she had a really bad case of it she seemed completely unaffected by it. I think it bothered me more than it did her. =)

i dont think it will be gone by itself it really needs some cleaning..how do you do it ? is it after or before..i guess putting some oil and cleaning it before a bath of the baby is more proper..

hi hun my first child had cradle cap when she was young, i got some cream that worked really well for it, i forget what it was called but it was a special cream for cradle cap/ It will go tho if you leave it alone or put cream on it. whatever you do dont pick it, i caught my partner doing this and i nearly throttled him lol! it wont hurt your daughter at all and if you keep a hat on her if it is really bad no1 will be none the wiser. its just a common occurance in most babies and will go soon enough. good luck and enjoy your baby

Thans, that makes me more comfortable... Actually it seems to be going off by itself but its taking longer than it was with the olive oil. However it doesnt seem to bother her at all and it doesnt bother me as well! She has LOTS of hair so nobody cant even see it! And is not falling too much as well... I just happened to find out one day when i was playing with her gorgeous hair, i saw all that dry yellow skin and i got scared but than the health visitor told me it was called cradle cap (is it cap? sorry) and many babies had it. Thanks so much for your reasurance! And i certainly will enjoy my lovely baby;-)

It won't hurt her. Many kids have it until they are in school. When my son showed signs of getting it I started using baby shampoo on his hair instead of the head-to-toe stuff and it went away. I massaged the shampoo into his scalp with a gentle brush and made sure to rinse it out thoroughly.

Oi!! Until school???! Ouch! I thing i'll go back to the olive oil if i see it taking too long! My baby has a lot of beautifull black hair and you cant really see it unless you search for it! So i just used to put olive oil, leave it a few hours or minutes, gave her bath and almost didnt brush her cause i was afraid to hurt her somehow! I still dont... but whenever we give her bath some bits are coming out just like that. Its just there are so much there and so yellow and dry... i got confused on what to do... At least is always good to know shes not in pain or something like that! thanks for the advice!
