Question About myLot TOS

Is it against the myLot TOS for a member to mention another member by name, in an unflattering way to the point of calling the member a form of "moron", when this member hadn't even posted to the discussion in question? That seems to be "flaming" in my opinion but since I'm a "moronocrat" or something like that, it could be that I'm just too stupid to know what that means...lol! To make this a discussion, do you think it's against the rules to act so childish and what would you do if it happened to you? Annie

Well, Annie, I don't know if it is against the rules, though I suspect that it is. But I bet I can guess who said it, with out even looking for the discussion in question. Well, maybe I could just name 3 or 4 members and I am pretty sure it would be one of them. They are full of clever names, like "obamoronics". If I were the one they had treated this way, I would probably not do much. It is not really worth worrying about, too much, as anyone with a little perspective can see right through the childish nonsense. It is not as though they can really tarnish your reputation. Just keep doing your thing. You bring up a lot of good issues, and are very intelligent and reasonable, in discussing them. They, on the other hand. . . not so much.

Thanks so much for your kind words. I've been accused by a few of "them" of being rude and starting fights and that's never my intention and I really don't see it that way at all. Disagreeing respectfully is NOT starting a fight. On a positive note, one of the fairly active conservatives here stuck up for me and that made me feel good because I'm friends with lots of people here and elsewhere who don't have the same political views as I have. What's the big deal? That's only part of what we are! What gets me is when some of these people, one of the biggest culprits being the one I'm talking about here, love to speak of their Christianity then they go on to call me and others names and attack us for disagreeing. I always have the temptation to simply respond with "What would Jesus do?" Annie

Just for the record, I live in one of the most conservative places in the country. If I couldn't get along with people who differ from me politically, I'd be pretty lonely. lol There is no reason, at all we can't get along, in spite of our political differences. Thank goodness there are reasonable people here on mylot, who are secure enough in their beliefs, to avoid attacking each other. Some are conservative, some liberal and some of every degree in between. There always have to be a few bad apples. I'm also bugged when people decide to be hateful in the name of Christianity. I am pretty sure Jesus wouldn't approve.

We are always going to run into immature people online and that's something that we can't do anything about. Of course it's against TOS on mylot to do it but you will find a lot of it. When I see something like that I usually give the person a minus and bring it to the attention of mylot admin.

I ended up reporting it and the post was deleted. Just her response, not the whole discussion, thankfully, because it's not fair when others who participated in a discussion get punished for one member's immaturity. She's brought it up since then as well but I'm not sure if she's done it in a discussion where I hadn't responded at all again. That's the part that pi$$ed me off! If someone has something to say to me, fine, but it was just a sarcastic remark about me as if she knew what I was thinking. For some silly reason I don't enjoy being called a moron...lol! Annie

Hey Annie, am sorry for that and I might guess who did that but no mentioning names. I know you are clever enough to know what it means. I dont know whether its against the mylot TOS but to me its good to call people names inside here and the best thing you can do is to avoid that person, his/her discussion and everything to do with him/her........those are the kind of people who follow others to every discussion rating them negative or even reporting fake abuse. let them be what they want to be as long they dont know your address and the real you.

Of course it is against the rules to be rude and nasty to others. But mylot can't know that unless they are told about it. So what I would do if I were you, and I have been in your shoes, is report it as abuse to mylot. There is no way for mylot to know as they don't have the manpower to read every discussion and response that is posted here every day. And don't feel guilty for reporting them because there is no need for someone to be hurtful like that and I don't want this person, and neither should you, to be a part of this wonderful community. I have had my troubles with one member here and I reported her and mylot got rid of her, and not because of one comment to me but because of several, and I mean several, This girl stalked me for a few days until mylot caught up with her and got rid of her. then she came back under a different name and found me again and starting stalking me again and I had to report it again and now she, only this time she said she was a he, is gone again. She/he told me, I'm back and I will haunt you and not leave you alone. I am still the same b?tch. Well, mylot just had to read that once and got rid of her again.

Now that takes nerve and very little intelligence, but why doesn't that surprise me...lol! It's just frustrating, as I'm sure you understand, because I like to have lively discussions here but it takes just a few to turn a heated but fun debate into something really ugly. I'm sure glad they got rid of the bi+ch that was stalking you! Annie

Yeah, but there is nothing stopping her from signing up again under another name. That's the problem.

Since it is an online conversation i guess such things happen. I do not think the other person would dare to tell you that in a real meeting. Just let it go, if you think it affects you than report it to mylot admins. Best is to let such people be what they want to be.
