We have 2 boys in the military, one who just graduated from basic and one who has less then 18 months left in his enlistment and the government has just signed into place a new GI Bill. For those of you with family members in the military take note. The new GI Bill will now cover the tuition up to the most expensive state school in the state for up to 4 years plus each recipient will get $500 a semester for books and they will get living expenses which is also going to increase by 17%. Also, the benefits can be transferred to family members under certain conditions - for example if they have 15 years in, the benefits can go to a child or a spouse. Also money is available for tutoring every year. This is a great thing, the people who serve our country can now get out and receive what they deserve. Score for President Bush!

That is great news for our service men, women and their families. Our govt. has to do something to entice young people to sign up to serve our country. They are not going to sign up unless they can get something out of their service. This is a great incentive. Kudos President Bush...

Yes, it sure is. It is also a good opportunity for the kids. My son, 22 went in to the Navy pretty loss as to a career choice and pretty immature. Boot camp changed him from a boy to a man. Now with these benefits he can finally get an education.

Good for your boys. Americans like to see their tax money well spent.

Yes, we are all very happy about the new bill. My son should be able to get away with a few loans but not too much. I hope. Hopefully this will help in getting more and better recruits too.
