I find my self in the position of having to replace my back up / travel camera. I have a DSLR and when I travel I do not like hauling all my lens and attachments around and there is the risk of damage or loss when traveling for pleasure. I was using a Canon A530 but found that I need something more and would like your suggestions as to a good back up that I should consider. I shoot for a local news paper and never know when I will see something interesting but hate taking my DSLR when i go to the store.

I use a small Polaroid CTA00730S as a backup camera. it is small and light so you can carry it around pretty easily. It has a 7.0 megapixel capacity which gives you great images and decent video footage. The Memory card is pretty standard so you can buy as much memory as you need ranging from 1GB to 8GB. It is compatible with both Mac and PC so gives no downloading problems.I hope you find this helpful.

I have a Nikon Coolpix L6. It's a great camera, and my only complaint is that it only has automatic ISO. That can be really annoying at times when I want to set my own ISO. But other than that, it does everything I need in a point and shoot camera.
I think my next point and shoot digital camera is going to be a Sony Cybershot T70. It's just a fun little camera. It's got a touch screen, which I think is so much fun! And it has some fun in-camera filters like a fisheye filter and a star filter that is an absolute blast to play around with! It's great! It's like a toy!
It has also has 9-point autofocus (which doesn't even begin to compare to my D300's 51-point autofocus, but what are ya gonna do? ;) ) ISO sensitivity up to 3200, and in burst mode it can shoot up to 100 shots at 2fps. It also has a nifty "Shutter Smile" function that as soon as your subject smiles, it will automatically take the picture. And it has an orientation sensor!
And it comes in a wide variety of colors!
So if you're looking for a fun camera, this is what I'd recommend. You know, I don't even need a point and shoot, but I might go pick one of these up this weekend! :)

I am looking for a quality camera that gives me many options and a quality photo that would be marketable, in the local market for news or sports. I am also concerned about the type of card it uses as I have SD and Compact Flash cards now and don't want to get into the X-D cards or the Memory Stick.
Thanks for you suggestions.
