In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day. He recognized ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed by a full 90% of the nation's population. In the proclamation, President Reagan called for all people of the United States to observe these events with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."
In 2008, National Ice Cream Day will be Sunday, July 20.
Do you celebrate NATIONAL ICE CREAM MONTH or NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY?

Hi lilybug,
I never knew there was an national ice cream month or day! But now that I know I am putting it on my reminder. I'll make some delicious homemade ice cream and probably make some fried ice cream from it, yum! as my gesture of celebration.

That's sweet! No, I hadn't realized that
July was Ice cream month.
But that does make sense. Our local grocery
store is offering Edy's Ice cream Buy one get
one free. That stuff is usually very expensive.
Wondered why they would offer such a deal.
Now I can see why.
Well, I learned something new. Sure, I would
love the idea of celebrating ice cream.
Why not? I guess we could get some of the lower
fat ice cream and celebrate with that.

I hadn't heard of this. Might be a good thing for my hubby and daughter to start doing. They love sweets. Ice cream is a nice summer dessert. May be a good family tradition to start. Each member of the family could pick a different flavor.

Wow, this is the first I have ever heard of a National Ice Cream month or day for that matter, but I guess this is going to give me a reason to go to Dairy Queen this month and treat my family, hey if the wife complains now I can always blame it on Ronald, lol.

I totally love home made ice cream. I might make some this weekend. I havent used my ice cream maker in so long. It does turn out well if you follow the directions. I maybe should have a backup dessert if it doesnt turn out though.
