This is truly amazing and how brave he was. Jaden Ashton measured his mum's blood sugar level and then dilled 999 and telling the operator she was "n bed, not talking and wit her eyes open." He explained he had tried to revive her with sugar cubes she kept at the side of the bed, before giving police call handler Vicki James his full address in Bicester, Oxon. Paramedics were sent and gave Mrs Ashton, 40, an emergency injection of glucagons and she was put on a drip to bring her out of the coma. She said: "Jaden is my hero. He did so well, I'm so very, very proud of him. His actions definitely helped save my life. When I was told what happened, I just cried and gave him a big cuddle for what he's done. He's a very, very clever boy. He just kept his wits about him." Mrs Ashton, a health officer with the National Blood Service, was diagnosed with type one juvenile diabetes when she was 18 and on the morning had missed her alarm. Jaden was the only one in the house, his father Gavin having already left for work. Although she had not fall into a coma for more than ten years, Mrs Ashton had trained Jaden to use her blood glucose monitor and to dial 999 if he couldn't wake her. Jaden, who is in his first year at primary school, said: "I wasn't scared, I just called for an ambulance to make my mummy better." He has now been nominated for a Chief Constable's commendation by Thames Valley Police. Chf Ins Jack Mahli said: "For a five year old to have that presence of mind and not to panic is really superb." An ambulance service spokesman said a diabetic come can be fatal and described Jaden's actions as "amazing".

That's amazing. It's always nice to hear something great as this in the news. Jaden Ashton definitely deserves some kind of medal for his quick thinking. I wish more stuff was reported like this in the news. Most of the stuff I see is negative and we need some more lighter articles.

What a sweetheart! Little Jaden is most deserving of a big reward and hug from his Mommy! I am sure his Mom is extremely proud of him. He was so brave. She's a smart Mom for having taught her son so well. Forethought and a smart child saved her life!
