What's your favorite pantry dinner? You know, the dinners you make where everything comes from the pantry? The old basic for us is whole wheat pasta spirals, pasta sauce, and a can of whatever veggie I have on hand. My husband's favorite is a tortilla soup with veggie broth, a can of black beans, a can of tomatoes (fire-roasted is the best,) a can of corn, a jar of red bell pepper if we have it, a small jar of salsa, and a butt-load of chili pepper. So give me your pantry recipes!

I think my favourite would have to be a packet of tortellini pasta in a jar of home bottle tomato sause with a can of sweetcorn or mushrooms or similar. I'm lucky yo normally have loads of fresh veggies, but sometimes when I'm tired grabbing a few things off a shelf is a very attractive option!

I totally know what you mean. Sometimes I'm so tired and hungry, all I want to do is throw something together and eat. No cutting, no extended cooking, not much waiting. The original reason I started thinking about pantry dishes is because we're now in hurricane season, so I was coming up with a "preparedness" plan. I also got some shelf-stable containers of milk and juices just in case the water supply were to be bad - at least we'd have something to drink! We keep about 20 gallons of purified water around too.
