Internet rumors and lies? Or not?

Here's a web site that says the evidence is overwhelming that Obama is a Muslim. I disagree. I'd say the evidence is overwhelming that Obama once was a Muslim, not IS a Muslim. Here's the web site.
http://theobamafile.com/ObamaIslam.htm
What do you say? Did Obama use to be a Muslim? Is Obama a Muslim? Or is it as Obama claims, Obama was never a Muslim?

Well, I think he was at one time for sure as too many from his past remember him as one, and a lot of his family is Muslim.
There have been many reports of things he has done... especially that one where he recited something awhile back with a supposedly perfect accent.
I think it was the Call to prayer but can't remember for sure, although it has been mentioned a lot recently and I surely have a link someplace.
His claim of never having been a Muslim has been thoroughly disproven to my satisfaction.

I agree with you. Obama was a Muslim for part of his youth.

Said it before will say it again.
Obama, as an adult capable of making choice was never a practicing Muslim.
Obama, as a child for a period of a few short years lived in Indonesia. His step father was a barely practicing muslim. He attended a public school. He was listed as muslim which would have been normal. He on ocassion attended mosque with his step father.
None of these things make him a Muslim. They make him a child. When I was a child did many childish things. Half of them I don't remember.

Honestly stated and true from what I've read. What is important are the choices one makes as an adult.

Common sense say that he was at one time a Muslim. The idea that he could have gone to a Muslim school as a child and not be a Muslim is to hard for me to believe. I went to a church school and it was my church from my youth. True there was a good chunk that did not go to my church, but they were all Christians or atlest that is what they said they were. To this day are all of my friends from school still Christians, well I am not sure but I can assume that some dropped left the faith. Same with Obama was a Muslim but not now. Neither Obama being a Muslim or not being a Muslim is not the big issue. The big issue is no one know anything about Obama. To some he is this, to others his that. No two people see him in the same light, almost like a snowflake.

That he might have been a Muslim doesn't bother most people. Lying about it bothers many.

I agree with you that he once was but is certainly not now. And I don't see what all the fuss is about?? He should just front up and settle the rumours once and for all and get on with it.
The first response to your topic has put it very directly and summed it up perfectly; regardless of whether he was or was not, is or is not a Muslim; or even if he wears women's clothing on weekends while spanking an inflatable goat; he is still Obama and his policies and opinions are what they are. Whether or not he assumes the Presidency in due course should be based on his policies and potential abilities; not this crap!

Literally or figurtively are the possible answers.
What is the question?
This concerns peoples intent when they lie to you. Usually, when people lie to you, the intent is always the same with only the modifying adverbs, 'literally & figurtively' being the difference.
When my wife lies to me with statements concerning how smart I am, or handsome, or strong, or what a great lover I am, I know she is lying. The modifying adverb, 'literally' applies in this case as to her intention.
When Obama lies to all of us, the modifying adverb is 'figurtively'.
I really hate hearing politicans lie, as I know what they are up to.

As the saying goes RYBD...... "How do you know when a politician is lying?"...... Their LIPS are moving! Politics left the path of morality, decency and righteousness the day it started! All we can do is sit back and try to enjoy the show I guess and hope for the best.

That article sure enough states that he was a muslim. And so does some of the evidence, so if he was, then he wsa, no probs with that, but whats bothering is, he is lying, i definetly feel like he is....I dont think he never was a muslim, in a family of muslims, its not like he never was, without being a muslim, one cant know the prayer, or that language or that accent, no one bothers to, but a muslim should know that languagae. Any how thats not whats important, but he sure is hididng something!

All your points are correct as far as I can tell. The thing of it is, there just was no cause for him to lie. I wonder if he'll ever explain why.

I think he was never a Muslim. I think all this is ridiculous. If he were Muslim, he would still be my choice for president. I can't believe we are this close to the election, and this is the type of thing people are still all upset about. Listen to what the guy believes in. Listen to what he intends to do. If you still don't like him, don't vote for him. Let's quit trying to decide if he's Muslim, or black or white, or Arab, or what ever, and focus on the man, and what he says. Let this election be about the issues of today. Muslims do not equal terrorists (although it is a given, that some terrorists are Muslims, just as some terrorists are Christians), so don't be a part of all the nonsense. I am speaking to people in general, not to anyone in particular.

Certainly whether or not Obama is or was a Muslim is unimportant. Whether or not he is a liar is important. That's what we are talking about.

Of course, Obama is not a Muslim. I don't think he is a Muslim, either. I am positive he lied about being a Muslim in his youth.

I do believe he was taught the Muslim faith at one time, but really when you are running for any American government office you don't very well want to say that out loud. Honestly I don't care about that. I'm not voting for him for all the other reasons. I do believe he considers himself a Christian now however I don't feel he is a very good Christian. The way he is behaving during this election is case in point.

I do believe that it is a concern to some American's, and he can't afford to lose votes based on this truth about his past that really doesn't matter anymore. Why risk it? If he came out tomorrow and said he once was Muslim and believed in the muslim ways then you can bet he's going to loose some votes.

Is the real issue here that he was never a Muslim, or that he lied about his
Muslim affiliations? If Obama had not, as a senator, been involved in fundraisers
for Hammas; if he had not said a portion of a Muslim call to prayer with a near
perfect accent; if he had not advocated meeting with leaders of America's enemies
without preconition; if he had not so readily supported his Jihadist cousin, Raila Odinga,
overthrowing the leader of Kenya and murdering innocent civilians in the process, then I might be able to believe his is not a Muslim. Even if he is not a registered practicing Muslim at a mosque somewhere in the world, I think the above examples support the notion that he is still a Muslim at heart, and as the Good Book says, "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he."

What's the difference if he practiced islam or not? What if he is a Muslim or not? He's still Obama and it doesn't change anything since he's competing to become president of the U.S

The only concern is why did Obama feel he needed to lie about it? I and most Americans do not care if he was a Muslim as a child. We know he is not one now.

As I am English, I do not know much about him, I know he is a politician but that is about it. But I cannot see why his religion should change anything? As long as he isn't an extremist, but I say that about everyone.

Whether or not Obama is an extremist is still being debated. Unquestionably, many of his friends are extremist.

It sounds like the media making there own stories ;-) Actually I fail to see the problem with the man being a Muslim. If he is a Muslim, then he is a Muslim.... why is this a problem. Is this a political issue in America? Does America actually think a Muslim politician is a bad or good thing?
The only important part is, would he be a good president and could he build friendships between other nations, rather make enemies as the previous man did.
I wish him well in his career and I wish well to American people also regardless what the media or internet say.
Namaste

Certainly, most Americans wish Obama well. We are puzzled, however, as to why he would feel a need to lie about his Muslim childhood.
