Think it's high time I got a Laptop!

I am finding that I am spending more time online nowadays and was thinking I might invest in a laptop to ease the pressure on my feet and back from sitting too long at my desk. I work at the computer too when I am at work so I really want to relax and put my feet up when I get home and feel like my desktop does not give me the flexibility to do that...I have had it for almost 7 years and it's never let me down and is still going strong. Do you have a laptop or desktop PC? Or both? Do you prefer having a laptop or desktop? Do you feel you are more flexible with the laptop than you would be with a desktop PC?

Hi Marina. I bought a laptop computer about 3 or 4 months ago. When I had the internet service hooked up, I asked the serviceman if he could extend the cable so that it could reach across the room to where my couch is. The reason I had it set up that way is so that I could lie down on the couch with my laptop perched on my lap. I had problems with my shoulder because of arthritis. I was having severe pain in my shoulder and had to rest it quite a bit. It sure was very helpful. After I have had plenty of rest for my shoulder, I now have my laptop set up on my desk. I know that I would not have been able to sit for any length of time at the desk if I had a desktop computer. Another reason that I bought the laptop is I will be attending a few college classes this fall and I can take it with me if I would need to.

Thanks for your response bluerubymoon. I think I will definitely be investing in a laptop and will use wireless on it. It's more convinient as I can get a lot done on the PC if I could stretch my feet out:)

I think you must have both. Usually the laptop can't do what desktop can do like multi taskin, gaming and so on. But I you also have a laptop you can online wherever you want bed, kitchen and outdoor. You only need only one wireless router. I have both laptop and desktop, i bring my laptop to work because there's free wireless connection there and i use LAN at home. I spend my day about 10 - 12 hours per day at my workplace and when I reach home I usually online for 2 hours before sleep. You should have a laptop to get the flexibility that you want and better get a wireless connectivity.

May be worth going back to where you bought the laptop and asking there or any PC software/hardware store should be able to help. Thanks for your response Locosz, you're right. It's worth having both and having wireless so you can be mobile with it.

It's good to have both, new laptop or old pc.. I use my pc since 2001 but i still like it..with the laptop i get flexibility and mobility but with pc i get performance especially when i editing picture or designing. With a laptop when u wanna sleep u can online on your bed. But you need to have a wireless router to make sure you have maximum mobility. So even you have an old PC don't throw it or sell it. You can get a wireless router at nearest computer store and i recommend linksys. you can view it here. http://www.amazon.com/tag/linksys%20wireles%20router. It's cost about $50. For PC maybe you need a wireless card or a USB wireless LAN. Basically pc and laptop goes like this modem wireless router PC modem wireless router laptop you also need to secure your wireless LAN to avoid your neighbor use your internet connection. If you not securing your LAN they will log into your LAN and use internet for free.
