Would you ever forgive Hitler?

Bare with me, there is reason in my madness in writing this question (hey Im Irish). In my experiences, if you hate anyone, it never makes you feel good. There doesn't seem to be any happiness involved whatsoever if you hate someone, so how can there ever be peace in yourself. So one day I saw my friends cursing GW Bush on the TV, and I decided not to join in and instead, I said, "well, I don't like him either but I forgive him for what he has done". Yes it was quiet for a moment and my friends were even more annoyed with me then than GW himself!. However after a while I felt a lot better after. I am not god, I cannot verbally crucify someone who I do not know, only the actions the person has done, and I do not know what caused that person to do what he did. From this moment on, I started doing the same thing with people I had serious issues with, and it was hard believe me, but in the long term I became happier, lighter and my health even improved as I was not carrying any hate with me. So one day I forgave Hitler, and it seemed the last test. The last ounce of hate or cancer. So if there is anyone who you truly hate, remember "You must carry, what you won't let go" Would you ever forgive the person you hate the most?

Why not ? At least He's done nothing to my people... Though He's done wrong to jews n others he still has done something good to german .beside its the only thing we could do now . Why should we carry burden of hating him when There's no point left . If we cant forgive him doesn't it make us like him

Thank you for your thoughts on the matter. What you said last, is not really that important if one likes him or not. The important thing is the person who does hate him for what he did, is the one who suffers the most. If that person can forgive him for what he did, can for the first time feel physically better after. So the 'healing' here is for the one who hates him. Cheers Frank

Morning Frank, 1pm here Saturday morning in Germany and I come back from my shopping to see you are writing about zee Führer. Well a couple of German friends of mine were having a meal one night and the topic of reincarnation came up. Carmen turned to Peter who hadn't said anything so far and asked Peter do you believe in reincarnation... So Peter raised his hand up, put his index finger under his nose and said "Ja! but I veely don't like to talk about it!"

Forgive Hitler? I don't think I can, he is the biggest enemy of human kind. I don't think that one man has the right to decide the fate of the world. He has made so many terrible things that I bristle every time I hear his name.
