We can get so self centred and self indulged in our daily lives that we on most occassions fail to notice a lot of things happening around us. Have you not had some experiences of having not noticed things , events or people around you and then being informed about it later. You then think to yourself "Oh, How did I miss this ?" Do you unconciously or conciously try to even remember the simplest of things around you ? For Ex. The number of steps you climb either at home or at work. The exact position of the items on you working desk. As many names of the shops in your favourite shopping mall or street. The color of the clothes that all your colleagues around at work have. Try doing these small exercises and see how your awareness and power of noticing things increases.

I think I need to practise this big time. My glances are so straight that sometimes I hardly notice even my close ones on street!! I am always kind of engrossed into things which I would do or would not may be. This is so foolish! I must change. Thanks Alok.

Try doing a different excercise as often as you feel comfortable .Recollecting it is important. See the difference after a few days and the share your experiences with me. It can be fun.

There is another interesting exercise which I have learnt and would like to share. Its to do with the paying attention to the sense of touch. Try feeling objects of different materials. Then close your eyes when in an unfamiliar surrounding and try to feel and recognise the material with you feelings.

I will do that. Today I will try to see the shops' names that come on my way to home. I hardly notice them!!
