i need some ideas on how to keep spirits up at work for my whole team. i hate to tell ya'll what i do cause well most people hate the peopel that do my job and trust me i wasnt to fond of them either till i worked there and saw what they go through. its a job we all have to have one just about lol. i am a bill collector. please no one yell at me for that. we collect on cell phone bills. anyways. there are 3 teams on what we do and i am a team leading basically manager of our teams helper. each team has 2 of them that have a group under them as well. granted this just doesnt effect the group under me but the whole team under my manager. he is moving to a new job and well they have done some down sizing of our group as well. they were thinking of just having 2 teams with 4 team leads. or maybe hiring a new manager for our team. at first it was we were merging with another team and well that team let us know real quick that they didnt really want us over there even the manager made it clear that he didnt want some of us. i am ok with just about everybody there so no issues for me but some of the others on my team have issues. they feel like the redheaded step kids. we were told that they didnt want us mixing with them and they would just sit us off to the side of them and so on. well that made us feel really crappy. everyones spirit is kind of down which cant blame them. i have been trying to talk to everyone and saying things like it will be ok we will get over there and show them what we got. i will be there for them and try to do everything to make it easier. things like that. i mean it all too. they are great people. great collectors. they have good hearts and really try hard. any ideas of something i can do or say.

It's totally understandable. Talking about handling people, it is not easy to be liked. There will always be something inevitable that happens especially when it comes to re-organization. When we had to transition to another department, I just had to explain as you did and make them understand why it has to be done. I had a different scenario though since I came from that department so it wasn't that tough to convince them. I just showed what they could do in that department and what skills they excel on that would benefit the department when they got there. The people are a given, there will be someone somewhere who would oppose the idea but at least you could make the team welcome to it. Just show them what they'd expect with the work and try to minimize discussing the people. And lastly, I'm definitely with you. Always be there for them. You did a great job making them feel that way. Take care!

thank you there spirits were up after i talked to them but then they heard all teh people on the team we are moving to talking about them and the new manager talking about them and well they got so depressed again. they all looked like they were headed to a line to be hung. before i got promoted i was on the team we are moving to so i have no issues. i am worried about them. its the same job just merging with anotehr team. they all know they can do the job but they feel so unwanted. i guess the best thing to do is just keep encouraging them and keep letting them know i am there for them.

Hey there my friend. Oh, will you still be handling them or be a part of that team in some way? Yeah, you could just encourage them. Tell them something positive about that team. Also, try to talk to the manager on that team. Unless he/she could tell you a good reason why they feel that way, I guess the situation could lighten up a bit. You know them at least. That's a good start. You can do it!
