Do you follow a motif in making a scrap book?

When doing a scrapbook? Do you follow a pattern or motif in your scrap? I made a junk of my first scrap book because all were just mixed and matched? How long does it take you to finish a scrapbook? Do you paste all the pictures first or do you finish a page at a time?

I have quite a few scrapbooks on the go at once. Some of them have themes (ie. one for each of my children) and at least one is for anything that strikes my fancy. I have one from my wedding, one from out trip to Europe etc. If you enjoy looking at your scrapbook then it will never be considered 'junk' - they are your memories to be loved.

I do one page at a time. I thought that I was done with my daughters first year then I had more pictures printed so I need to go back and reorganize the book into date order. In fact last night I went through and put all the picutres into the slips so I know what will go where. All I have to do is the pages now. I take about 30 to 45 minutes per page so I have a lot of time left to go on just her first year.

Normally I do a page at a time, I pick the pictures I will be using, and then choose the paper, embellishments and journaling. Has to how long it takes to finish one, it depends on the scrapbook. I have done small ones, 8x8, chipboard, etc. in a weekend. For my 12x12 albums, they are usually an ongoing project since each one holds a years worth of special days, events, travels, etc. I also have 12x12 albums for my dog, one for cards, letters, etc that I receive from my family since we live 1600 miles apart, it's titled 'staying in touch'. I have been scrapbooking for a little over 3 years now, I started my first one when me and my s/o moved in together. I also got my daughters into scrapbooking too.

I follow a pattern but its my own pattern. The pages aren't all similar. I like different colors that kind of go together to make the pages look real nice. Sometimes I want it kind of out there, so I will throw everything into it. I'm still working on my first scrapbook. I guess it's because I'm pretty picky with my stuff. I want it to look real nice. And it a big book. I have lots of pages to fill. And I have tons of things to put in it. I get excited when I do my scrapbook. I like all the colors, cut outs, stickers, pictures (of course), and even the little scraps of things I collect that represent something in my life. I think scrapbooks are wonderful thing to have all your memories place in an unique book.

It depends on what kind of scrapbook I am working on. If I am working on a stand alone album, usually highlighting a spcial trip or occassion, I will plan out a color scheme and matching embellishments. Now, for my every day photos, those I will do a page or two at a time. And I purpose make it different for different days or different things so it seperate in the album. I will plan out the entire page before I start glueing anything down. Although I will mat photos first.
