I don't really the answer to this. But seeing it closely, technically, it is really not lying. Not telling anything to a friend doesn't mean you have lied to him/her. You just don't tell them everything because there are things that we want to keep for ourselves. But what if that concerns your friend? Like, you have to tell him/her because he/she is involve with that. But another problem occurs, what if you know it would ruin his/her happiness? With that concern in my mind, I tend not to say anything at all. I don't want to hurt anybody. But isn't it lying? Or more like lying but covered with just a better coating? Because when you keep it and you know that he/she must be informed about it, you are depriving him/her of the information that he/she must know. I am in a dilemma now. To tell or to keep. I think I'll just wait for the right time to come.

It depends on the information that you are keeping from your friend. You know, in the end this could actually blow up in your face. Some people want to know things ahead of time. Sometimes it's just best to tell because it's easier. And you can get it off your chest.

Wihholding the truth is not telling the truth, and not telling the truth is lying. If you know somthing that should be shared, and you do not share it, causing the person to not receie ome informaion, you are lying. If you didn't share he inormation because you honestly did not have it, then it would not be lying.
