Okay I have a not so old Toshiba Satellite laptop and I have a problem with the mic socket, output or whatever you call it. It just won't work, I have no problems with the audio output and the headset output, only the mic has a problem. Do you think it is just a minor problem? I don't want to be paying to much for what I think is a minor problem , so please tell me what you think and if you know how to easily fix it let me know. Thanks

I have tried other mic but still it's not working. I know for sure that my mic inline jack has a problem, and I don't think it's a software issue because the line out works, only the mic doesn't.

Yes its surely a minor Yet a big problem! If the solution i am providing you works for you then its surely a minor problem. Before i also had the same problem but the problem was me myself. Just check the audio settings for microphone activated or not!. Before i also thought that my microphone jack has failed but it was just that i had this REALTEK or something like that sound thing where the microphone has to be activated if you are using less programs on startup then enable all startup programs by doing this Start- Run- msconfig then go to the startup programs and Enable all

Unless you can see that there's damage or something is physically wrong with the actual input, it's probably a driver issue. Look at Toshiba's website to see if theres some update for that issue. Maybe the hardware you're trying to use needs some kind of software to work properly. I doubt it's some major problem, just look around on the manufacturers website and maybe try to find a driver. I know this isn't a specific first-hand solution to your problem, but I hope this helps. Good luck!

I think you input mic have broken. Try using other mic to test if the mic or the input has a problem or try to do some test in your laptop.

have you tried another mic out? if the problem still occurs, you could replace the mic and audio jacks altoghether or a cheaper solution is to get one of those usb things with the mic and audio jacks on them. some headsets are supplied with them nowadays.
