...does anyone have one?? I know most people have common phobias like spiders, lifts, snakes, heights etc, but do you have a really unusual phobia and does it affect your life on a daily basis?? I saw a programme recently about a fella that was terrified of fruit and vegetables which was interesting. It made me feel better about myself too because I have a phobia of cheese. Can't stand the stuff. Can't walk past it in the supermarket. Won't have it in my house, can't touch it, look at it, smell it or anything. There was a time when saying the work actually made me gag. So, I want to know how many more 'special' mylotters are out there with an odd phobia!! Thanks :)

Since my earliest memory, I have had an unexplainable fear of bees and needles. Although I had never been stung by a bee, nor had any negative experience with bees, I was terrified of them since toddler-hood. Later in life, a friend of mine, who is a psychologist, explained that phobias are fears subconciously trasferred to an object that is only a symbol of the base-fear. In my case, needles and bees have one thing in common, psychologically speaking. Both have the ability to "get under my skin," and invade my core being. Interestingly, as an adult, I was actually stung by a bee and suffered a reaction serious enough for a doctor to diagnose me as dangerously allergic. Therein lies another question: Can our fears/phobias actually be a warning of what our minds/bodies/hearts/spirits must avoid to survive? It is ponder-worthy.

That's really interesting. I have no idea what my phobia would mean though! Thanks for responding :)

I found this link that discusses phobias: www.find-your-phobia.info The site discusses phobias, causes of phobias, medications and "strange phobias." Also, the Urban Dictionary refers to The Fear of Cheese as: Turophobia. It may be a slang term, but apparently, the fear of cheese is not as uncommon as one might think. So...you are not alone.

ok, lol. I CAN'T stand it when someone is walking behind me! I get freaked out and step off to the side to let them pass me. Also HATE going up a stairwell and someone coming up behind me. I freak out again and race up to the top and hide somewhere. Its weird to have the panic building up in my chest over something silly like that, but there you have it. I am a weirdo. lol

I know what you mean - I get a bit paranoid when people do that to me as well. Thankfully it doesn't bother me as much as it seems to get you. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a weird phobia! Thanks :)

I have this phobia on being controlled by other people. It seeems that I'm a very claustrophobic person emotionally or physically.. I also have this phobia of seeing people beheading other people, it makes me faint and eat my individuality... I feel nauseated or something you know..

I've never heard that one before, thanks for sharing. I can totally understand the beheading thing though!

I really am scared of animals and not just a specific animal but all animals. I dont know why or what makes me scared but when I see an animal I scream or hide behind one of my friends. Its pathetic, I know but its just that I dont like animals. I feel like they will at one point get out of control and bite me or do something theyre not supposed to. I like know what is going to happen next and when I look into an animals eyes its scary and they look like theyre going to bite you, especially if they dont know you.

I have a deathly fear of those little green tree frogs. It seems as if everywhere I turn there seems to be one, all nice and fat, just waiting to jump on me and scare crap out of me. I will literally bawl if someone tries to chase me with one or put one on me. I have always been afraid of them, even since I was a little girl. I know that they arent poisonous and that they cant bite. I just cant explain what makes me so scared of them!
