Friends - The Ones YOU Have on Mylot.

Why do you have the friend that you do on mylot? I recently had a friend over and he saw me checking this site out. He asked me about the friend tab so clicked on it and saw I had six friend. Then he asked me why those six when the site has over 130,000 members. Frankly I did not have a decent answer. So I pondered the question and this is the result: I was asked by 4 of them and two I request. Prior to this, I never really looked at their profiles but solely accepted/selected them because of their writing, either their discussions or answers thereto. I was pleasantly surprised at the diversed group of friends in have. The is only one other American, all others are from around the world. They are also diversed by age starting in the teen and well lets just say older. And evenly divided by gender. But I keep coming back to what they wrote that most intrigued me. So what was your motive for having your friends?

I do not make lots of friends on mylot,I think i need to do something to keep the friend relationship,not just for the name on the "friend list".
for me,making friends with others is to share feelings,and opinions.So i would like to choose those who are friendly,knowledgable people.
i can still remember the first time I met you,benhilo, :) it was about the GW Bush,you made me understand something I havn't noticed before.So it seems the GW Bush did a good thing.

When I request a friend, it is always because of something they have written, that has impressed me. Sometimes I see 4 or 5 posts by a certain person, and I think their thoughts or beliefs are similar to mine. I put a lot of thought into those I request to have on my friends list.

I would like to thank you for having me in your list of friends.
I apologize for I don't remember when I have added you, but I think
I am the one who requested to be your friend.
Usually I add friends who have responded to my discussions because
that is one way of appreciating their responses. When they are
in my friends list, it would be easy to find out if they have new
discussions thru the "friends started" tab.
And for me, having a lot of friends provided me with a lot of
diverse topics so I won't have to come to a point when I can't find
any discussion where I would respond.

I really don't have a reason why I add friends. I might add them because I like the way they think or even because they have simular interest. I usually always accept the add requests. I have also added people to make new friends. ;p
