Ok, I just started on facebook last week (yes the start of my summer holidays). Why is it so addictive??? I thought it was some kind of blog/photo sharing place, but there is soo much more to it and it keeps you coming back. anyone feel the same and/or has an explanation for the fenomena?

When I first started on facebook, I didn't find it that addictive. It differed from other networking websites, like myspace, because it had a clean interface, loaded faster and was generally more streamlined ... PLUS it actually had people I hadn't seen in years. It was more intended for actual networking between people from your past and yourself, where other sites are more for meeting new people. But still, I didn't get addicted. I checked in once or twice a week to see my mail, accept friend requests, etc. But then, they added the applications. Now I'm an addict, lol. Now I have to check in daily to do my scratch tickets, pull tabs, and all the other applications that are intended for daily use. With the success of Facebook applications, Myspace has now tried to capitalize on the idea and impliment their own. Unfortunately, in true myspace style, they're cluttered, slow loading and half the time non-functional. I lose more and more respect for myspace each time they attempt to copycat another successful idea. I now only use myspace for groups and forums. I use facebook for everything else.

yes I think you are right... its the applications that make me go back. I also tried to find friends from the past, but that has been really unsuccessful for me. and you can only go so far with that entertainment... I mean at some point you wil run out of "old and lost friends"

I like facebook, in my office almost all people join on facebook. We can share pic, news, give comment, game etc. Sometime we give comment about someone pic, make a jock. We can doing when we working too. This is really coincident first someone invite me to join and than am invite friend in my list chat, am never know facebook will be popular like friendster event i already have friendster before join in facebook. But face book more popular in my office. I think why facebook more fast popular cos we can receive respond so fast went we give reply or comment for some topic is really like we talking online when we use YM.

I started on Facebook to use just for personal friends and family, but there are so many business networking applications that I've migrated to using it for that. My blogs are fed there and I even have a group for one of my blogs, and now I have numerous business contacts, people I "know" online, as friends. Happily, I have connected to a few friends from the past, which has been very nice. I don't use it as I should, though. The potential is there, my time is just lacking and better spent elsewhere.

I find that I don't go on it as much as I used to, but I still go there sometimes because it keeps me in touch with family and old friends (I moved around a lot as a child so I had a lot of friends that I found from grade/highschool on facebook.) I love to see everyone's picture albums, it's great. I'm not so much into all the little addon's facebook has though. It's a good site over for keeping in touch.
