Why do you stay up late at night?

Hey people, I know heaps of people around me stay up late at night for various reason which can be lifestyle related. It's 1.29am at the moment and clearly enough I should be sleeping like the norms. So why am I still up late? Reason being I had a long day picking up my cousin up from airport in the evening, then muck around, then shower late night. I only half blow dry my hair (don't want my hair look too dry and damage) which means I can't go to sleep with my hair still half wet as I know it can cause headache in the near future. So here I am waiting for my hair to get dry while mylotting to kill time. Hence, what are your reasons for staying up late?

I stay up late when I don't have to get up early because I prefer the evening hours. Going shopping at midnight is much better because there are fewer people in stores, no crowds to beat back, and it's quiet. It's also a great time to work in the yard, here in the suburbs, because there aren't people to walk by and watch you or ask questions or try and sell you things.

I live in a relatively urban area in the US. In the more suburban and rural areas, there aren't many, if any, places that are open that late.

Wow that's interesting to know that shopping still happens at midnight. It's good that shops open till late night because in Australia here all the shops close at like 6pm latest which means you can't do at least window shopping or walk around the shops after dinner. Also, interesting to know you get salesperson up your doors as I rarely get these. Even if I do they are generally nice people who knows when to walk away. Which country you live in?

I am not sure why I like to stay up late at night, I prefer the night more then the day time. However, I must reiterate in saying that I do like both day and night, but feel as if my creative juices flows better at night.

True, some people I know works better at night than daytime. My thinking is that as the day goes by, the day light changes and it somehow cannot make you concentrate. I don't know how to explain stuff hehe but yeah.

Hehe, yesterday night I was on mylot till like 2.35am. You must be a good friend for you to let them call you up at night. Because, for one of my friend I can't call her after 9pm as her mum have insonmia (is this how you spell the word? But you can make it out yeah?).

Your writing schedule sounds quite hectic if you need to stay up late at night that is. For me I can't concentrate and do my work late night but I can concentrate when I'm chatting with friends and doing fun stuff. Happy posting and writing!~

I tried to tell myself to sleep early too but I just can't. If i sleep early, I can't get to sleep until properly the usual late night time that I slept. I fall asleep watching dvd late night especially if the movie is boring like no action. I'm not thai, I can't differentiate between a Thai and other Asian country apart form their language. Have a nice day!~

I've always been a "night owl". I guess maybe it started after putting kids to bed...had to wait to get my quiet time for myself. I just have always stayed up late. Good thing most days I don't go to work until 10 a.m.

i am a singer, so i work at nights. there is nothing i can do with it. i would love to have a good sleep and i can only get that if i sleep early at night but i dont have much of a choice. some people does sleep late with valid reasons and some just want to sleep late and have trouble waking up in the morning with no reason at all. sleeping in the evening is good for our body. if only i can have a day job i will sure be sleeping at night to regain back the energy i lost.

yes i am adapted to it already, i started singing when i was 18 and i am 38 already. but still i would like to have a good sleep from evening till morning. i do that every once in a while when i really dont have work at nights. it is still nice to wake up at morning instead of starting to sleep in the morning.

Hopefully your body clock would have adapt your sleeping time by now. My mum is a nurse and so works at night till the next morning. That means, she sleep in the day time. Have fun singing!~ Cheers'

There's usually two reasons why I stay up late: 1. I work 3rd shift at my full-time job which requires me to be awake from 11pm-7am, along with the drive time. When I'm at home, I also have a job that I can do while I am sitting at the computer (besides Mylot). 2. This becomes "my" time to do whatever I feel that needs to be done around the house. With two small children, it's very hard to clean during the day and find time for myself. Once the kids go to bed, the house becomes mine and my husband's! Thank you for the discussion!

You work from 11pm - 7am? Is this a food factory job? You're really hard-working and yes, it's a must to have quality time when you lead a busy life. Keep it up, your kids will understand every little things you do for them one day and they will be proud of you!~ Have a nice day!~

There are only two reasons why I stay up late. It may be because I was reading a good book or I was surfing the net. That's what I usually do, I forget the time and then before I knew it it's already 2 a.m. or something.... Usually it's surfing the net that keeps me up all night.... I usually forget the time when I browse blogs, or play online games so.....

I stay up late at night if I have some urgent work to complete or else I am busy replying to the discussion in Mylot. Of late, it has become a part of my life to sleep late and I can't even imagine myself going to sleep early, only unless I am sick.

I always stay late at night. After work i eat my dinner with my daughter, helping her out on her assignments and after that preparing her stuffs for her school the next day.And i don't forget to always log in to mylot.I'm having a hard time sleeping early, maybe i'm used to it now. Before when i'm not still on mylot,i only surf the internet wasting my time looking something but ending up nothing to be found out.Just wasting my time on it til midnight, now it's a good thing i've got mylot. It helps me earn money as well us finding a way for me to sleep. Now i find myself enjoying to different sets of discussions while waiting my eyes to get tired.

Sounds like you deserve a pat on the back, so hard-working. Yeah, I was like you as well. Before joining mylot, i wasted my times playing games until late night. Now, after joining mylot, I've learnt alot of new things and get to know how people live their life and handle their issues. So, I felt progressive in some way.

Hello there! ^^ My main reasons for staying up late is probably because I am having such a good time I forget what time it is or don't realise what time it is untill I have looked at a clock. Losing track of time can be easy when time flys by. (= I don't work also, so I pretty much have all the time in the world to stay up late. Though when my fiance has to get up early for work, I make sure we both go to bed at a reasonable time, unless otherwise. ^^

I don't work full time so yeah I have the whole day to myself doing little things like mylotting but then that doesn't keep me the whole day. I agree with you on how you can lose track of time when you're having so much fun. Like, when my brother bought wii on the first day. Me, my boyfriend, my brother and his friend stayed up all night playing wii until 2.30am. The other night too my bro invited his friend and end up playing wii until 4am.

I don't sleep well when my husband is away and I'm more of a night owl anyways. I don't think I ever get to bed at a decent time unless I'm sick. I didn't know that falling asleep with wet hair can cause headaches... something I had better keep in mind, thanks.

There are a variety of reasons why I stay up late. More often than not it's because I'm out and about with friends, probably partying it up somewhere. Sometimes I'll stay up late to finish a movie and watch the end of a sports game. I've found my self staying up way late because I've been caught in a video game that I just can't seem to put down (too bad I can't do that with books). I've actually stay up late because I can't sleep. This is annoying, especially if you need to get up early the in the morning. It's probably because I'm contemplating something, the only problem is I don't know what. A lot of times I stay up late is because I have assignment to finish up or am cramming for a test. I'm still in college, so staying up late during the school year is the norm.

Yeah, I'm still in uni too so pretty understandable with work and stuff. Yep, true you can stay up late with video games too. Like my brothers and his friend still up till 4am just playing video games. Even if I go bed early, I still can't sleep until its the late night time that I usually slept. Cheers'

There are times when I simply can't sleep. I got this incomnia thing every now and then. At first it was quite annoying but after sometime I got used to it. When I couldn't sleep, i just get out of bed and read something. Somestimes, its way past 2 at dawn before I finally get some sleep. Good thing I work at home and can get up anytime I want to.

I have been nocturnal most of my adult life. It sometimes gets me into trouble as I stay up, usually in front of the computer or TV, and end up tired and ready for bed at the time I need to be getting up. It is just weird, but I have always preferred the nice quiet of the night. The fact that I am a loner and a home body doesn't hurt either.

I'm the same way! I can't stand to go to bed with wet hair. Most times I'm up late cause I get busy on Mylot or updating my free movies blog. Or, I'm watching a movie and lose track of time.

To be honest yesterday I stayed up to watch a movie, but I got pretty bored with it. Initially I thought it was going t be a good one but oh well nope it was kind of boring. So I decided to snack which I later regret because that actually kept me up even more. I don't like to stay up too late as it make me feel really tired the next day. I tried to sleep but nothing seemed to work. I kept on watching the television and was hoping I would find something else interesting to watch so that at least I could have something going on. I did end up going to the shops too to get some hair rollers. I was thinking about doing my own hair for my brother's wedding and I thought I should practice different methods so that is one other thing that I am doing up late is just making use of some time to prepare for hopefully what will be a great day. I already tried using hair straighteners to curl my hair but the hair spray that i used did not give much hold which was really annoying because I was hoping to have it stay in a certain way the entire day. I have to get up really early too so I really need to find one that can hold the whole day. Oh dear I seem to have rambled on about it sorry I just been thinking about it too much and have no idea of exactly how it will look on the day but am willing to try out new ideas and have fun with the whole thing. Hopefully all will go well.

It's good to have something to look froward to especially if it's a special day. Because that's what kicks your day/night. You should get pay TV as there are more interesting shows to watch 24hours round the clock. It will be nice if you have a friend who's a make-up artist or hairdresser to take care of your beauty for you on the big day. Good luck with your brother's wedding and everything. Cheers'
