Laser printers are very fast, extremely fast. Sometimes in printing though you need quality at text prints, and inkjet i think are better when printing plain text. I am not sure though, i never had a laser printer myself. They are a bit expensive too, but for companies the increased speed is a must have.

I really think so before that laser printer are really better than ink jet that is quality wise. They print more finer than ink jet therefore even very small fonts are very clear if enlarge. I have no idea how finer ink jet's printers now a days but before, I could really see the difference even when printing ink jets in high quality. The only drawback is laser toners are much expensive that ink jet inks.

You can find laser printers for under $50 after rebate. THe problem is that they come with starter cartridges which hold less than half the normal toner, so they're good for less than 1,000 pages. The toner cartridges cost more than the printer, and often they can't be refilled properly. I tried refilling a Samsung 2010 and the prints came out too light. The same with a Brother 2040 until I learned that the starter cartridges are missing a $3 part. After I bought the starter gear, the refill worked. For about $6 in toner, I get about 2,000 pages, so the laser is faster, sharper and cheaper than an inkjet but only in black and white.
