I need my phone with me always!! How did people make arrangements to meet up with people when you totally depended on house phones...and when the person didn't show up.What was life like in the 1980s/90s when people depended hugely on house phones?

We can live without mobile phones. Mobile phones only makes life easier and more comfortable to live and to communicate. It is only how much you've put your dependency on it. If it is the only tool you think that you need to survive in everyday living and everything that you do always means having a cellphone around then perhaps your life is worthless without it.

Oh I still remember how it used to be. Today both me and my husband own a mobile and we also have a landline phone. Infact we dont even contact others using our landline as we have to either remeber the numbers or should keep a dairy at hand with all the numbers. In 80's and 90's we didnot have even a landline phone. At that time, we requested our neighbour to give his number and when a call comes to call us. But most of the times the communication was done through post cards, or those who will call and give details will call my dad in his office to convey information and news.

I rarely use my mobile everyone who needs it has my house number and to be honest if they just didnt show up id be pretty angry! If you know you cant go theres normally always plenty of time to ring the person at home before hand I think. Sometimes its nice to go out and be unreachable 90% of the calls I get to my mobile could wait a few hours until I get home anyway the only reason i have one is for when my eldest is at preschool and I go out so if they need me desperatley they can get in touch with me

I also depend about my mobile phone. I can't live without it. It's just strange how people lived without mobile phones. To me mobile phone is most important thing in the world. I always need to make an agreement or to ask someone or to be asked by someone about different things. I need it for my job in what is very important to be available. I just can't live without it.
