Rodin's Thinker...just what IS he thinking? / myLot

Is he pondering the meaning of life? Wondering where to go on his holidays? What to have for dinner? Does his bum look big? .... I suspect he's thinking 'Where the hell did I leave my clothes??' (Maybe he was on his stag night and his mates have taken them??)

LOL! You got me with the question "Does his bum look big?"..priceless.^_^ Well, I guess lots of art forms are open to interpretation thats why people are forced to think when looking at them. He would be thinking my thoughts if I think about what he was thinking. He would be thinking your thoughts if you are pondering what is it he was so serious about that he couldnt find a proper chair to sit on and just sit at a rock and think. Maybe he wasnt thinking at all. Maybe he was just tired from walking naked that he just couldnt resist not sitting on the rock and rest his head on his hand. There are lots of maybes that would come up but I guess the only person who might know what The Thinker is thinking would be Rodin himself. But then again we would say he doesnt know because his works are an object of their own that is apart from himself...something like that.^_^

Well, yes. There is 'straightforward' art which just shows a sort of photographic representation of the subject and anything else is open to interpretation by the viewer. One man's art is another man's (or woman's) untidy bedroom!
