I really experience have no penny on my pocket because I forgot to ask my allowance and rushing on school... It's really funny when I remisce the time because I was already on the jeepney when I remember that I have not ask for my allowance for the day...what I did I ask as if I already pay the fare and keep my eyes close until I felt that we almost arrive...after them I run really run because I am afraid to be caught by the conductor or the driver that I did not pay the fare.. that was the first time I go to school without allowance..Good thing I have friends who lend me money for a fare to go home and for my snacks and allowance..

Well, I know it would be something that would be hard to deal with. I know now that I am an adult though, there have been times I have gone to work without any money on me, and ended up needing $$ for something, and then have to borrow from someone which makes it rough, as then you feel stupid. And if you need to take a Bus or something as well, you have to figure out how to do that as well.

Mine is a different story, due to sometimes short of budget my mom won't allow me to go to school because she can't give me any money for fare.I need to 2 rides before i could get to school.I was a scholar so they didn't pay anything for my school except for my allowance everyday but sometimes they failed to give me.So what happened was i just woke up early and walked going to school and then just lend money from my classmate going home.

I think it was common on poor family or child to go to school without any single cents on the pocket. I grew in a poor family and I often experience that. It started during my grade school days and even up to my college ays. It was just hard when I was in college cause my school was far from my home so maybe that was the time I started to be a business minded. Whenever I got allowance I tried to buy some stuff which I can able to sell to my friends and classmates to have more money. I even tried to ask the empty bottles and old newspapers from my classmates then just to be sure I will have money the next day. It was such a hard day but it taught me a lot now and I was thankful of having experienced those things.

my father never used to give us allowance even when we were in college, we used to have this concessional pass for the entire month issued to students to travel in buses. Just by showing the pass the conductor would allow us to hop into the bus without any fare. we hardly required any money, eating out was never allowed, we used to carry our lunch from home, once in a while if mom was too busy to prepare anything that day we were allowed to eat at the college cafeterria . only then we saw the face of the money. We never felt anything strange, this thought us to value the money in difficult times.

I use to go to school without any money. I remember at lunch my friends would all buy big lunches, but I was stuck with nothing or begging for change just to get a candy bar or something similar. It was hard to go to school everyday with nothing to eat, and even harder to go home hungry. But I made it through, and now (just a few years later) I have more money than my friends and I'm doing very well. I'm grateful that I was able to make it through the hard time, and I know that anyone can do the same as I have. It just takes a little motivation and hard work and all of the hard times you go through will payoff - literally.

I can still remember when I was young, my mother used to run out of money and pretend that she can't remember giving me any pocket money. I had no money for recess time an were always hungry. So I tried to earn some money by buying little toys in bulk and sell to my school mates to make some money. When I grew a bit older, I start to do some partime work. That is when I had enourgh money to buy something for myself.

As far as I can remember, I haven't really gone to school without any money on me. But there was a time when I was supposed to go to a concert with some of my friends and I actually forgot my wallet at home and we still didn't have tickets plus the concert will start in 2 hours. I almost panicked but when I searched through my bag, I have a couple of thousand bills in the inside pocket. I was so relieved that I treated my friend to DQ for some sundaes. It's a good thing I keep some amount in that bag or else I would've ended up borrowing some money from my friend and I'm really not comfortable with that.

I was born on a Farm, and walked to school every day. It was almost 2 miles (uphill both ways) in all kinds of weather. I had a rain coat for rainy weather, and can remember my Father bringing the horses and sleigh when it stormed in the winter. We would crawl under an old Buffalo Robe on the sleigh to keep warm on the way Home. I never even thought of taking money to school. There was nothing for the 25 students to buy. We brought our lunch to school in a lunch-pail. I remember eating peanut-butter and Jam Sandwiches for lunch. There was no running water at the school and someone was designated to bring a pail of water from the nearest Farm. Our drinking water all came from this pail.

Back in elementary I usually don't carry money because I have a school bus service and a packed lunch and snacks. The good thing about it is that most of my friends would treat me to snacks because they know that I don't have money.

Oo! yes. You are reminding me of those years during my school. I remember very well what happened to me one day (twice). I was in high school and have been sent home to collect school fees. Our home and school is 65 km. So when the school head master sent us I went home with the pocket money I had. On reaching home, my parents was having no money at all, my mother borrowed from her friend some few shilling that I may not in back to school nothing. Our home town is 20km away. Since I little money to cather fees I was not given fare so I decided to foot to town timing the school van who normally comes to town daily. On reaching town I went to yard where the school driver used to park there. When I ask the council officer who takes care the parking yard by collecting some parking fee whether seen our school van. The officer told me it was there and has left. So there nothing else I could do apart from footing to school there I began a next 45 km since I had put on sports shoes I run and you know generally I come from an athletics elite zone in my country (kenya). So I arrived when pupils where taking super. I was totally tired, again come closing day I had no money to get me back home so it was footing again with my school box in my shoulders.

I am not sure how many times but it did happen to me. One reason is that I forgot my money and I am already on my way to school, so I had to borrow some from my friend. Another incident that I remember is that I don't really have any money in my pocket, and I went to borrow money again.

Dear friend This reminds me of my school days when few times I had got in bus without any penny or paise, I was starting to get down and before that the conductor saw and enquired and I told the situation and he excused me and granted me a free travel but next day itself I gave the money to him and thanked him and the conductor said not to repeat it, I just smiled.

Oh, your from the Philippines aren't you? Hehehe... just spotted the word 'jeepney'. Lol. Well, I don't know how to ride public rides so I have my school bus which drives me to school. Yeah, I forgot my wallet once when I was on the second grade so I had to endure my hunger. Lol. And when I arrived at home, I ate and ate to make up for my terrible hunger. Lol. It was a very funny experience!

I experienced going to school without any money, but in my case, I walked to the school so I did not do any running of some sort.. hehe! just kidding. What happened to me was I was unable to eat really, I asked my friends to lend me some money just enough for a meal or two. It was horrible since I had to budget my money and eat a few, even though I was as hungry as a horse, all I could eat was a mouse's share of food. But eventually I manage to get through the ordeal and I was able to get my money soon afterwards :)

I remember when I was going to university one day I was so broke that I had only 1 dollar I gave it to my sister who I was dropping off at her high school. I remember that I was going crazy for a coffee all day but could not get one.The things you remember forty years later!
