I have traveling via airplanes for so many times now. But I still have some fears about flying like: What would happen if one engine fails, what if there is a bomb on the plane, what will happen if we crash landed in the sea/ocean, etc. How does one deal with this? What do you do to keep you mind out of this things?Do you believe the statistics that it is generally safer to travel by plane than on a car?Just curious?

I always feel safe when I board an aircraft. I feel that a crash is very unlikely and I really think people should be more nervous when getting into a car. Yes, the statistics show that car crashes happen quite often but air crashes are rare. These days pilots are well trained and cabin crew are taught how to act if there is ever an emergency on board. When I got to Tel Aviv Airport in Israel every traveler was being interviewed before checking in. I had this and then they did a detailed search of my luggage. I am just an innocent traveler but security checks are in place to make sure no bombs are put on planes or get into airports. One time I boarded a plane and everyone was handed a newspaper. The front page had a photo and story about concord crashing. This was upsetting and it is sad that Concord will never fly again.

How do I personally deal with it? I don't, because I'm not afraid to fly. I love lying!!! Why would I fear a plane crash any more than I would fear getting hit by a car on the street, or having someone run into me and knock me off the sidewalk? I fly so often now that it's almost like getting on a bus.

I am terrified of heights and since my job requires me to travel, you can just imagine how afraif I become whenever I have to get on a plane. Even with all the travel, my fear of planes have not lessened. I still get butterflies in my stomach, sweaty palms and shortness of breath especially when the plane is going through turbulence. I feel that I want to jump off the plane already. Lol. What I do to try to get my mind off is to close my eyes and imagine. Sometimes I sing to myself or I sleep it off.

To keep my mind out those things, I sleep...
I believe in the statistics that it is safer to travel by plane than a car...It is obviously because there are much more car accidents than plane accidents...

hi Muelitz. I don't know how would I deal with fear of travelling by plane. I am afraid of height. I love to feel ground under my feet, when I feel safe and comfortable.
Luckily, I don't have to travel by plane. I'd not choose a job which requires me to travel, even to travel from city to city. I want to spend time with my friends and loved ones. I have to go home after work, to feel good and satisfied.
Have a nice day, jazgottt.
