Well blind sounds better but deaf cuts you from communicating with most of the world. Even if you know sign language, most speaking/hearing people do not.
You can be in a room full of people and be completely isolated.

Not really a contest for me I wouldn't mind being deaf. But if I went blind however that would really trouble me the only positive I could think of is that my thoughts might become clearer without having to process what I see.
I really hate hearing that annoying sound the TV and monitor makes I'm looking forward to not being able to hear that freq. when I'm older:)

I am blind in my left eye, its caused many problems. Recently finding my eye sight in my right eye getting even worse and finding that things dont look "right" on in focus a lot of the day id say I would rather be deaf as the very thought of never seeing my childrens faces again makes my heart hurt, the noise im pretty sure I could live without but only just!

I'd rather be mute...then I couldn't talk as much but I could still see and hear my children :D

I am very grateful that I can hear, see and speak. After I posted this...I was thinking...one of my favorite past times is karaoke :P I can't sing if I'm mute!!! But I still think I would rather see and hear my children every day if it meant that I had to give up singing :D

I think either would be a tragic loss but I think if I had my choice I would choose being deaf. Even though you can be independent with either I think it would be easier to be independent if you were deaf. But I don't know..I have know people who were blind that were more able and capable of doing things than people who have their sight. Very difficult to think about.

it seems that blindness would take away so much, amazing how much we take for granted that others may never have

Personally if I had a choice, I would rather be neither, as I enjoy being able to hear and see so much. But if something was to happen to where I had to give one of them up, it would definately be hearing. Because learning sign language is actually not that hard to learn, and you can also read lips. Being Blind would bring on a lot more challenges to where it would be a whole New world, and too many changes to boot.

yeah, i think it would be harder to be blind, and there is so much you would miss out on without eyesight.

i think i would rather deaf than blind.I want to see the world even they said you can see alot of evil or "Blind dont see evil.Even there is a lot a of evilness in the world i still want to see things.BUt if you are deaf i know that the way you are talking is gonna be different too.

very true...so much yet that i haven't seen and and to, i would imagine that being blind would dull the world to me, especially if it happened after i had the ability to see
