Hi, I agree half way. living according to His standards? I would say, try to live according to His standards. Keeping His commandments? I would like to say, try to keep His commandments, because that is better for you. We are all sinners, if that was not true, The Lord would not have needed to die for out sins. Dear margajoe, we all were born as sinners, but remember that when you believed in Christ, he took away your guilt. Then you were born again through the Spirit, meaning that the new creature that came to life that day, was definitely not born as a sinner. That doesn't say that we do not sin, but that God is not only faithful and rightous to forgive us but also to clean us, to help us to be every day more saintly. As Christians we have no right any more to blame human frailty, we should know better and have God dwelling in us. But to imitate Jesus is so much more than not to sin. It's practicing his active love to everybody, mostly to those we would rather not. Let's do it!
