What happens when someone is viewing your blog and you log in to update it?

This may seem like an awkward question but what happens or what message do viewers of your blog get when you log in to update it? Is there a message displayed when someone tries to access your blog and you are updating it?
I want to know because there's times when I go to update my blog and when I look at the live traffic feed and check the real time section, I can see who has arrived, who has left and all and sometimes I can see someone has arrived a few minutes or seconds ago, then I am not sure whether to update or not...Does this happen to any of you?
Do they get a message saying 'the blog/link is not available' or something similar like you would if a website is being maintained sometimes?
When do you all update your blogs? Is it best to do it when there's less traffic?:)
Was hoping someone here may know and I have been meaning to ask? Will experiment with it and see how it goes but let me know if you do know the answer.

Hi,
It would not be a problem. When you are updating your blog and people are viewing your blog, no problem at all. 
I will update my blog everyday and I make sure I can do it.

i would think that if they are viewing when you update, it stays the same unless they refresh after you update.
maybe if they were to get to the page or refresh *at the exact same moment* as you are updating - they might get the "page cannot be displayed".
good question - never really thought about that.

Thanks for the response RedFeather! I am going to experiment with this at work where I have more than one PC and test it to see what happens..It's just that traffic is often quite slow sometimes and do not want to throw some people who may have shown some interest off the link before they finish

Strickly common sense here talking but I wouldn't think they could see what you are updating until you save and publish. And even then, they'd also have to refresh to see it as it wouldn't just change on its own in front of their eyes like that.

im glad you started this one. i cant answer but i hope you get an answer. iam still waiting for an answer as to whether blogs make more than discussions. maybe if i keep an eye on this discussion someone will answer that. maybe you?
