Do You Think Beauty Contests is a Form of Exploitation of Women?

I've always enjoyed watching beauty contests whether local beauty contests such as the contest as to who will represent a country or the international beauty contests such as Miss Universe. Miss International and so forth. I've particularly enjoyed the talent portion, the long gown competition and the final question and answer portion. While it is true that there are some candidates who do not answer questions well but who were vored in as semi-finalists or finalists based on their looks and other physical assets and attributes, since these are beauty contests, it is not surprising that physical atributes would score largely in the final determination of the winners. There some opinions however that such contests are being used to exploit women and their physical attributes. Do you agree or disAGREE?

I think that there are more t.v. shows and other forms of media that are exploiting women then the beauty contests. In my opinion it is just a way for those beautiful women to feel confident in themselves and recognized for their individual role as a woman.

well what is beautiful?
any thing created in a perfect manner.
and human beings are god`s own creation like all other organisms.
but why is it that some are marvels among many an ordinary ones?
now to measure the extent of extraordinary things these are some pageants being organised and beauty contests are one way of doing it.
what`s wrong with the shows. i dont have any problems.
if any particular lady feels like not participating who can compel her?
it is all in the mind of the winner first that she wants to win otherwise she can not pass through the elementary rounds. so it is all expression of excellence.
even in sports. athletics swimming and other events the girls participate wholeheartedly they come forward and display their talents!!
the talent is of more significance .
similarly not only the physical attributes but the psyche is also weighed and rewarded.
