The late Queen Victoria of England is to have her undergarments auctioned off. The underwear in question are a pair of bloomers with a 50 inch waist, a night gown (or night dress), and a chemise with a 60 inch bust. * The queen's knickers or underpants were very plain but beautifully stitched. They were white with a tiny V.R. stitched on. * The queen became obese later in life. * The late Queen's undergarments will likely fetch a high price among those who fancy Victorian memorabilia.

Oh, that just seems disgusting. Did she wear them at one time? It surely doesn't seem very dignified to auction off a Queen's undergarments.

Yes, the Queen apparently wore them. One of her servants kept them well cared for in a drawer, and now they are on auction. * I agree, I would never purchased used bloomers belonging to anyone. Then again, lots of weird things turn up at auction, especially if people or governments are hard up for cash.

I can't imagine someone actually wanting to own a pair of someone else's undies...unless like you said their for a collection. I do hope their at least new and clean...dirty ones would just be eewwww. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

The Palace washes such...but the idea still has the salted slug effect on me too. People collect the oddest things. Such as slugs...

I actually saw a pair of her knickers when I visited Queen Victoria's retreat, Osborne House, on the Isle of Wight. I don't think it was the same pair that is now up for auction. She must have had more than one! I would not worry about buying this item of underwear as I'm sure they have been well laundered, and they are not like modern panties which clings close to the body, if you understand what I mean. Whoever buys them will probably display them under glass, and they are quite interesting to see.

They are interesting to some perhaps, although I wouldn't be overly fascinated by a pair of old bloomers. Then again, there are different people with different interests out there. There's folk out there who think that computers are just expensive boxes.

Queen Elizabeth 11 has an iPod? I had no idea she kept up with trends that well! As for undies, give the centuries a whirl, and well...both will probably be on the auction block...

Maybe in a hundred years time Queen Elizabeth the second's ipod will be up for auction. (I don't think her undies will be of any interest to anyone.)
