Its amazing how much we coud save by walking to our destination if it is not that far and can be reached by walking. I chose a 30 min walk to the office everyday instead of riding the tricycle. On the side I enjoy the site of plants and flowers along the street and other scenery. That saves me 250 bucks per month. Have you tried walking to your destination?

yes it's amazing how much we can save just by walking. it's enjoyable to walk to our destination. it gives us time to reflect upon things as well. i walk to the train station every morning from home. i could have taken a bus or a light-rail train but i choose to walk. the money saved is a great incentive. but the chance to look around my neighbourhood is also a motivating factor. i get to see things i would otherwise have missed. things like flowers blossoming and birds flying after one another. i've managed to spot a few yellow oreos on my way to work. it's really a nice feeling. cheers ;p

We are getting a grocery store by our house that I can walk to and I am so excited. Every other store is acrost a busy street and I have two small kids with me a lot that I need to keep track of. I figure every penny counts so if I began walking to the store then I will only buy what I can carry, get exercise and save on gas.

Hello WATARIKENJI. I agree that alot of money can be saved by walking instead of driving. But, the only time I walk is when my husband and I walk over to the Dunkin Donuts and get a coffee and iced latte. It's great exercise and we save the gas money. However, we don't walk anywhere else, unless it's for exercise in the evening or early morning. My office is about 35 miles away, so I drive there 3 days a week. Our cities need to be constructed differently so that it is easier to walk from place to place. Everything is so spread out where we live that it just would not hardly be possible to walk everywhere. But good for you that you can save $250 bucks a month. That's fantastic.

This is a very good post. I think you are very wise for doing so. You are right walking can save us a lot. Imagine saving 250 bucks a month and more than this you also have given your body enough exercise to make you healthy and strong. I hope all the mylotters should contemplate about following your good example. Walking is the best exercise and I should add the cheapest and wisest choice It's the cheapest because you will need no money to buy any gadget to help you out. Your two feet are the only tools needed. No need to go to the gym and shell out money because you can do it by yourself. And the wisest choice because you get double benefit... you save gas and save cash as well and you keep yourself healthy and fit and hence indirectly you save money for medicine, doctor/hospital bills. Keep walking, keep saving, keep yourself healthy, and keep on posting good posts like this!

I wish I could do that to my office too. But it is too far. I need to ride 2 times. 1 tricycle ride and 1 jeepney ride. My work is very far from where I live so I should take the ride everyday. The fare of this public rides kill me. It is too expensive I wish I can just walk to the place where I work. I tis a good exercise and I can also save.

Yes, Its really risky walking here in the city. I have tried walking in the province and its not that exhausting.

I have a physical challenge that prevents me from walking too ar, so I walk to the nearest bus stop and ride public trasportation. I agree with you that walking, for those who are able, would save a lot of expese, and be good for the person's body, too.
